Badoni Joins Exclusive Club for LSG

Badoni became only the third player to score 1000 IPL runs for Lucknow Super Giants. Entering the match needing 25 runs to reach the landmark, the right-handed batter got there in the 12th over of the innings. His consistency over multiple seasons has made him a dependable figure in the team’s middle order.

Among Indian players, he is now the second to achieve this feat for the franchise. The first was KL Rahul, who set the benchmark during the team’s earlier campaigns. West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran had joined the list previously, making Badoni the latest entrant into this select group.

Match-Defining Knock Under Pressure

Badoni played a crucial role in the run chase, scoring a composed 54 runs from 34 deliveries. His innings included seven boundaries and two sixes, reflecting a balanced mix of control and aggression. At a time when wickets were falling at regular intervals, his presence at the crease helped steady the innings.

His knock proved particularly valuable as the match headed toward a tense finish. With the required run rate climbing and pressure mounting, Badoni’s ability to find gaps and rotate strike kept Lucknow in contention.

Thrilling Finish at Eden Gardens

The contest itself turned into a dramatic last-ball encounter at Eden Gardens. Chasing a target of 182 runs, Lucknow Super Giants held their nerve to secure a three-wicket victory. The match remained evenly poised until the final delivery, showcasing the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket.

Another key contribution came from Mukul Choudhary, who also scored a half-century and remained unbeaten till the end. His innings complemented Badoni’s effort, ensuring the chase stayed on track despite setbacks.

Kolkata’s Competitive Total

Earlier in the evening, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 181 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Contributions from Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Rovman Powell helped the home side put up a competitive score. Powell’s unbeaten innings added valuable runs in the final overs.

Despite the strong total, Kolkata’s bowling unit could not fully contain the Lucknow batters in the closing stages. While Anukul Roy and Vaibhav Arora picked up two wickets each, the team fell just short of defending the target.

Growing Importance of Badoni

Since making his IPL debut, Badoni has steadily built his reputation as a reliable performer. With 1029 runs in 59 matches at an average above 26, his numbers reflect both consistency and adaptability in different match situations.

Reaching the 1000-run milestone is a significant marker in any player’s IPL journey, and doing so for a relatively new franchise highlights his contribution to the team’s development. His ability to handle pressure situations and deliver impactful performances makes him a valuable asset going forward.
