WestBengalElections – TMC Expresses Strong Confidence Ahead of State Polls
WestBengalElections – The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has projected strong confidence ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, with senior party leaders asserting that the ruling party is well-positioned to secure another term in office. The elections, scheduled in two phases later this month, are expected to witness intense political competition across the state.

Party Leadership Projects Confidence in Victory
Speaking at a campaign event in Goghat, senior TMC leader Dr Nirmal Majhi expressed optimism about the party’s prospects. He credited the state government’s welfare initiatives, particularly improvements in healthcare services, as a key factor behind public support.
Majhi highlighted that the administration has focused on strengthening medical infrastructure and expanding access to healthcare for residents. He also pointed to community facilities developed for public use, including spaces aimed at benefiting women and local communities.
According to him, coordinated efforts by party representatives at both the state and parliamentary levels have contributed to visible development in various regions. He added that party workers remain united in their approach as the election approaches.
Focus on Governance and Development
The TMC campaign has placed significant emphasis on its governance record. Leaders have consistently referred to public welfare programs and infrastructure development as evidence of their performance in office.
Majhi reiterated that the party intends to continue its development agenda if re-elected. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and party leadership, the TMC would secure a decisive mandate.
He also predicted a strong electoral outcome, stating that the party expects to win a substantial majority in the assembly, which would enable it to form the government for a fourth consecutive term.
Candidate List Announced Ahead of Polls
Earlier this week, the All India Trinamool Congress released its list of candidates for 291 assembly constituencies. The announcement marks a key step in the party’s election preparations as campaigning intensifies across the state.
Polling for the West Bengal Assembly elections will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
Party chief Mamata Banerjee confirmed that the TMC has allotted three seats to its ally, the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM), as part of its seat-sharing arrangement.
Key Contests and Notable Candidates
Mamata Banerjee is set to contest from the Bhabanipur constituency, where she will face Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, who currently serves as the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly.
Several prominent leaders have been fielded in key constituencies. Chandrima Bhattacharya will contest from Dum Dum Uttar, while Madan Mitra has been nominated from Kamarhati. Firhad Hakim, who also serves as the Mayor of Kolkata, will contest from the Kolkata Port seat.
Additionally, Kunal Ghosh has been nominated from Beleghata, and Dr Shashi Panja will contest from Shyampukur.
In a notable change, former Education Minister Parth Chatterjee has not been fielded from the Behala Paschim constituency. Instead, Ratna Chatterjee has been selected as the party’s candidate for that seat.
Strategic Seat Allocation
Clarifying the party’s electoral strategy, Mamata Banerjee stated that the TMC will contest 291 seats, leaving three constituencies for its alliance partner. The decision follows discussions with BGPM leadership and reflects a coordinated approach among allies.
As campaigning continues, political parties are intensifying outreach efforts across constituencies. The coming weeks are expected to see heightened activity as candidates engage with voters and present their agendas.
The West Bengal Assembly elections remain a closely watched political event, with outcomes likely to influence the broader national political landscape.
