Weather Update: As December approaches, North India is experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures continuing to drop sharply. There are now cold wave alarms in many states. In over 15 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange warnings for extreme cold and thick fog on Friday.

Weather in Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir
People in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir are experiencing extreme cold. While minimum temperatures in Himachal Pradesh are swiftly dropping and often dipping below average, temperatures in several areas of Kashmir continue to be routinely below freezing. Natural water sources in the tribal areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur have frozen as a result of temperatures that have fallen far below freezing.

On Thursday morning, light fog covered a large portion of Kashmir. Zoji La Pass recorded the lowest temperature, which was – 18 degrees Celsius. In Jammu, the lowest recorded temperature was 8.6 degrees Celsius. At 1.4 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah got the lowest minimum temperature in the Jammu division.

Weather in Punjab
A low temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Punjab’s Faridkot. Ambala in Haryana recorded 8.7 degrees Celsius, Hisar recorded 6.4 degrees, and Chandigarh recorded 6.9 degrees. At 4 degrees Celsius, Fatehpur in Rajasthan’s Sikar district was the coldest.

Weather in Odisha
In several regions of Odisha, the cold seriously disturbed normal living. At least 15 locations across 11 of the state’s 30 districts saw minimum temperatures fall below 10 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the hill station of Semiliguda in the Koraput district dropped to 3.5 degrees Celsius.
