Weather Update: An IMD alert for dense fog in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and the likelihood of snowfall in Kashmir as a cold wave grips North India

Weather Update: Much of North and Central India is still experiencing extreme cold and heavy fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are experiencing cold wave conditions. The chilly winds blowing over the plains and the snowfall in the alpine areas have disturbed normal living. As chilly winds from the mountainous regions continue to be active, it is anticipated that the cold in North India may worsen over the course of the next 48 hours.

Delhi-NCR: A Double-Whammy of Pollution and FogModerate to heavy fog began Thursday morning in Delhi and the neighboring cities of Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad.

-Temperature: 8 to 10 degrees Celsius is predicted to be the lowest possible temperature.

-Warning: Rail and air travel can be impacted. Before leaving, travelers are urged to confirm the status with IndiGo or the relevant airline.

Weather Alert for Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh: Orange

-UP: Several districts in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh are under an orange warning for very intense fog. In Varanasi, Kanpur, and Lucknow, visibility is predicted to be less than 50 meters.

-MP: The divisions of Gwalior and Chambal are experiencing a severe cold wave. In some regions of the state, minimum temperatures might fall as low as 7 degrees Celsius.

Weather Alert for Severe Cold in Punjab and Haryana
Visibility was almost nonexistent on Thursday morning due to Punjab and Haryana’s high humidity and chilly winds. Amritsar and Pathankot may have moderate precipitation as a result of the Western Disturbance activating on December 18, which will make it colder.

Weather Alert for Himachal and Kashmir: Snowfall Even before Chillai-Kalan enters the valley, snowfall has already started in North Kashmir’s upper regions. Srinagar has already seen below-freezing temperatures (-2.0 degrees Celsius).

-Himachal and Uttarakhand Weather: On December 18–19, high-altitude regions including Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Chamoli are predicted to have new snowfall. It is recommended that travelers stay away from high-altitude roadways, according to Himachal Tourism.
