Dense Fog Alert for Chennai and Nearby Districts

According to the latest bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, thick fog is expected to affect parts of Chennai and adjoining districts during the early hours of the day. Areas including Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu could see a significant drop in visibility, particularly around sunrise.

Officials cautioned that reduced visibility may disrupt vehicular movement, especially during peak commuting hours. Motorists travelling along city roads, highways, and suburban stretches have been urged to drive carefully and maintain safe distances to avoid accidents.

Moderate Fog to Cover Interior Northern Regions

Beyond the coastal belt, several interior districts are also likely to experience fog, though with slightly lower intensity. On Wednesday and Thursday, moderate mist is forecast in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Dindigul.

Weather experts noted that highways, open rural landscapes, and low-lying pockets in these districts may see temporary visibility challenges during the early morning. Transport operators and daily commuters in these regions have been advised to remain alert while travelling at dawn.

Light Mist Expected in Western Districts

In districts such as Salem, Erode, and Namakkal, lighter fog conditions are anticipated. While the impact here may not be as pronounced as in northern Tamil Nadu, early risers could still encounter brief periods of haze.

Agricultural activities in these regions may also experience minor delays during the morning hours, though no major disruptions are expected.

Rain Likely in Southern and Delta Areas

While much of the northern region deals with fog, a different weather pattern is forecast for southern Tamil Nadu and the Cauvery delta districts. Meteorologists have indicated the possibility of moderate rainfall in these areas tomorrow.

The expected showers may benefit agricultural lands by improving soil moisture levels. Farmers in delta regions, where cultivation depends heavily on timely rainfall, could see some short-term relief if the forecast materialises.

Gradual Rise in Temperature Across the State

In addition to fog and isolated rain, temperatures across Tamil Nadu are projected to increase gradually in the coming days. Despite the brief spell of rainfall in select southern districts, most parts of the state, along with the Union Territory of Puducherry, are expected to remain largely dry.

Weather officials explained that the mix of early morning fog, scattered rain in limited pockets, and a steady rise in daytime temperatures is consistent with seasonal atmospheric transitions typically observed during this period of the year.

Residents have been encouraged to keep track of daily weather updates and plan travel accordingly, particularly during early morning hours when visibility may be compromised. The meteorological department continues to monitor developments and will issue further advisories if conditions change significantly.
