Weather – Andhra Pradesh Faces Rain, Thunderstorms and Rising Heatwave Alerts
Weather – Residents across Andhra Pradesh may experience a mix of weather conditions over the next couple of days, as authorities warn of both rainfall and intensifying heat in different regions. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued an advisory highlighting the likelihood of sudden changes in weather patterns.

Rainfall Likely in Rayalaseema Region
According to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, a cyclonic circulation at the surface level is currently active over Rayalaseema and nearby areas. This system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, to isolated parts of the Rayalaseema districts on Monday and Tuesday.
Officials noted that this spell of rain could briefly ease the ongoing heat, with daytime temperatures expected to dip slightly in affected areas. However, the relief may be temporary as broader weather conditions remain unstable.
Advisory Issued for Public Safety
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during this period of fluctuating weather. People have been specifically warned against taking shelter under trees or staying in open spaces during thunderstorms, as lightning poses a significant risk.
Disaster management officials emphasized the importance of staying indoors during adverse weather and keeping track of official updates. The advisory aims to minimize risks associated with sudden storms and lightning strikes.
Heatwave Conditions Continue in Several Districts
Even as rainfall is predicted in some parts, heatwave conditions are expected to persist in other regions of the state. APSDMA has issued heatwave alerts for multiple mandals, particularly in Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram-Manyam, and Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) districts.
Areas under alert include Badangi, Merakamudidam, Therlam, Vangara, Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Seethanagaram, Chintoor, and Kunavaram. Officials indicated that around 10 mandals are currently facing heatwave conditions, and this number could increase to 12 by the following day.
Temperatures Cross 40 Degrees in Many Locations
The intensity of the summer heat remains a major concern across Andhra Pradesh. On Sunday, as many as 78 locations recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, reflecting the widespread impact of the heatwave.
The highest temperature was reported in Gudur of Nellore district at 42.4 degrees Celsius. Close behind was Nandanamarella in Prakasam district, where temperatures reached 42.3 degrees Celsius.
Multiple Districts Witness Severe Heat
Apart from Nellore and Prakasam, several other districts also experienced extreme temperatures. Regions in Kadapa, Tirupati, Chittoor, and Srikakulam reported readings exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, underlining the severity of the ongoing heat conditions.
The combination of high temperatures and intermittent rainfall is creating a complex weather scenario for residents and authorities alike. While rainfall may offer short-term relief in some areas, the broader trend of rising temperatures continues to pose challenges.
Authorities Monitor Situation Closely
Officials are closely monitoring the evolving weather situation and have assured that timely updates and advisories will be issued as needed. The public is encouraged to follow safety guidelines and take necessary precautions during both heatwave and thunderstorm conditions.
As Andhra Pradesh navigates this period of mixed weather, preparedness and awareness remain key to ensuring public safety.
