WaterSupply – 48-Hour Disruption Announced in Several Delhi Areas

WaterSupply – Residents across several parts of southwest Delhi are set to experience a two-day interruption in water supply beginning February 25, as the Delhi Jal Board undertakes critical infrastructure work. The planned shutdown, officials confirmed, is necessary to integrate a newly installed raw water pipeline with the existing system at the Dwarka Water Treatment Plant.

Delhi water supply 48hr disruption

Interconnection Work at Dwarka Facility

According to a statement issued by the Delhi Jal Board, the supply will remain affected from 11 am on February 25 until 11 am on February 27. The disruption is linked to the interconnection of a 1500 mm diameter twin raw water main at the Dwarka Water Treatment Plant. Authorities described the exercise as part of a broader effort to strengthen water infrastructure and ensure more reliable distribution in the long term.

Engineers will connect the newly laid pipeline to the plant’s operational network, a process that requires temporarily halting supply to maintain safety and efficiency. Officials noted that such upgrades are essential to meet the rising water demand in rapidly expanding residential and commercial pockets of the city.

Areas Expected to Face Supply Interruptions

The shutdown will impact a wide stretch of neighborhoods. Among the prominent locations are Dwarka sub-city, IGI Airport, and the India International Convention and Expo Centre (Yashobhoomi). Najafgarh town and nearby residential clusters are also on the list of affected zones.

In addition, water services will be disrupted in Vijay Enclave, the Uttam Nagar group of colonies, Arjun Park, and Laxmi Vihar. Residents in Mahavir Enclave, Pochanpur, Bharthal, Amberahi Village, Madhu Vihar, and Sagar Pur have been advised to prepare for reduced or suspended supply during the scheduled period.

Other areas likely to face inconvenience include Kailash Puri, Durga Park, Mangla Puri, Raj Nagar Phase I and II, Bagdola Village, Bijwasan, Dhulsiras, and Binda Pur. Sewak Park, Bharat Vihar, Sita Puri, Raja Puri, Jiwan Park, Indra Park, Milap Nagar, and Chanakya Place are also expected to experience water shortages.

The list further extends to Bajrang Enclave, Maksudabad, Naya Bazar, Vijay Park, Sai Baba Enclave, Nangli Sakrawati Village and its extension, Ranaji Enclave, and Shyam Vihar colonies. Dharampura and Roshanpura colony clusters, Deenpur Village, Matiala, Palam, Vishwas Park, and Sadh Nagar Part I and II will also be affected.

Supply constraints are anticipated in Nanhey Park, Bamnoli Village, Shahbad Mohammadpur Village, and Kapashera Village as well.

Advisory for Residents

The Delhi Jal Board has urged residents in the affected areas to store adequate water ahead of the shutdown. Authorities have assured that water tankers will be deployed to mitigate inconvenience during the 48-hour period. Contact numbers have been issued for residents to request tanker services if required.

Officials emphasized that while the temporary disruption may cause short-term inconvenience, the interconnection project is aimed at improving efficiency and stability in water supply across southwest Delhi. With population growth and increasing demand placing pressure on existing systems, infrastructure upgrades have become a priority for civic agencies.

Residents are advised to use water judiciously during the outage and stay updated through official communication channels for any changes in the schedule.
