Vaishno Devi Darshan News: New Year Pilgrimage Rush Prompts Special Arrangements at Vaishno Devi Shrine

Vaishno Devi Darshan News: With the New Year approaching, the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, located atop the Trikuta Hills in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, is experiencing a significant increase in pilgrim footfall. Every year, thousands of devotees plan their spiritual journey during this period, making it one of the busiest times for the shrine. To ensure that pilgrims have a safe, comfortable, and well-organized experience, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced a series of special arrangements. These measures are aimed at crowd management, improved facilities, and smoother movement of devotees throughout the pilgrimage route.

Free Accommodation Facilities for Pilgrims

To support the growing number of visitors, the Shrine Board is offering free accommodation to devotees on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative is especially helpful for pilgrims who may not have made prior lodging arrangements. Free stay facilities are available at several key locations in Katra and along the yatra route, including the Niharika Complex, Ardhkumwari, Sanjhi Chhat, and Bhawan, also known as Durga Bhawan.

These accommodation centers are designed to provide basic comfort to pilgrims after long hours of travel and walking. Along with resting spaces, the Shrine Board is also ensuring the availability of essential amenities such as blankets and locker services. This allows devotees to store their belongings safely and focus on their spiritual journey without unnecessary concerns.

Smart Locker Services for Safe Storage

To further enhance convenience and security, Smart Locker facilities have been introduced at multiple points within the shrine premises. These lockers are available at locations such as Room Number 04, the Waiting Hall near Ram Mandir, Durga Bhawan, Parvati Bhawan, Gate Number 03, and Adhkunwari. The initiative is particularly useful for pilgrims carrying valuables or extra luggage.

Devotees who have confirmed bookings for specific religious services and travel packages can use the Smart Locker facility in Room Number 04 at no additional cost. These services include SSVP, Ataka Aarti, Nav Chandi Path, Group Ataka, helicopter services between Katra and Sanjichhat, and complete Jammu to Bhawan travel packages. To access the free locker service, pilgrims must present their booking receipt after getting it stamped at the reception counter in Room Number 04.

Round-the-Clock Registration Services

To manage the continuous flow of pilgrims during the New Year period, the Shrine Board has ensured that registration services remain available throughout the day and night. The Tarakote Yatra Registration Counter will operate 24 hours a day, issuing RFID-based Yatra Registration Cards that are mandatory for undertaking the pilgrimage.

In addition, the Banganga Registration Counter will handle pilgrims who arrive with unauthorized or invalid travel cards. After 10 PM, this counter will also assist pilgrims who possess valid online registration receipts. This flexibility helps reduce congestion and ensures that late-arriving devotees are not inconvenienced.

For pilgrims arriving by train during late hours, a dedicated assistance desk will be set up at the Katra Railway Station Travel Facilitation Counter. This desk will guide devotees arriving after 10 PM, helping them with registration and further travel-related queries.

Extension of Special Train Services

Considering the expected surge in travel during the New Year celebrations, the Jammu division of Northern Railway has extended the operation of special reserved trains connecting New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This move aims to provide smoother and more accessible rail connectivity for pilgrims traveling from distant regions.

The special train service from New Delhi to Katra will now continue operations until January 4, 2026, instead of ending on December 31. Similarly, the return service from Katra to New Delhi has been extended until January 5, 2026, offering additional travel flexibility to devotees planning their return journey after the New Year festivities.

A Well-Planned Experience for Devotees

These comprehensive arrangements reflect the Shrine Board’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and organized pilgrimage experience during one of the most crowded times of the year. With improved accommodation, secure storage options, continuous registration services, and extended train connectivity, devotees can focus on their spiritual journey with greater ease and confidence. Pilgrims are advised to plan their visit in advance, follow official guidelines, and make use of the facilities provided for a safe and fulfilling New Year pilgrimage.
