TerrorAttack – Family Awaits Promised Job Ten Months After Pahalgam Tragedy

TerrorAttack – Nearly ten months after the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam that claimed the life of her father, Asawari Jagdale is still waiting for the government job she says was assured to her by Maharashtra’s top leadership. Despite repeated assurances from senior leaders, the promised appointment in state service has yet to materialize.

Santosh Jagdale was among seven people from Maharashtra who lost their lives in the attack. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Maharashtra government publicly announced financial compensation and employment opportunities for immediate family members of the victims as part of its relief measures.

Promises Made After the Attack

In the days following the incident, several senior leaders visited the bereaved families. Asawari recalls that Union Home Minister Amit Shah met her family and assured them of full support from the Centre. According to her, the assurances included a government position, recognition for her father’s sacrifice through a bravery award, and the construction of a memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in the attack.

She also stated that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the family and reiterated the commitment to provide employment assistance.

Administrative Process Yet to Conclude

Following these assurances, Asawari said she approached the Pune Municipal Corporation on the direction of senior officials. During her meeting with the municipal commissioner, she was informed that vacant Grade II positions were available and aligned with her educational qualifications.

Asawari holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and an MBA. Prior to the tragedy, she worked as the head of human resources at a private firm. She believes her academic background and professional experience make her suitable for the proposed role.

According to her account, her application file was forwarded to Mantralaya in April 2025 for final approval. Since then, she says there has been no official communication or progress regarding her appointment. The prolonged delay, she adds, has left the family uncertain about their future.

Financial and Emotional Strain on the Family

The Jagdale family’s situation has become increasingly difficult. Santosh Jagdale was the sole earning member of the household. With his sudden death, the family has faced mounting financial challenges alongside the emotional burden of their loss.

Asawari says they have made multiple visits to various offices in an effort to expedite the process but have received no concrete response. “We have approached every concerned department as advised, but there has been no movement. We do not know what more we can do,” she said.

Political Response Highlights Delay

The issue has now drawn political attention. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule raised concerns publicly over the delay. In a statement posted on social media platform X, she expressed disappointment that despite direct assurances from the Chief Minister and Asawari’s strong educational credentials, the administrative process has remained stalled for months.

Sule pointed out that while leaders across party lines had initially extended support and sympathy, the absence of follow-through has placed additional strain on the grieving family. She urged the state government to act with urgency and compassion toward families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack.

Awaiting Official Clarification

As of now, there has been no official clarification regarding the status of Asawari’s appointment. The case underscores broader concerns about the implementation of relief measures announced in the wake of terror incidents.

For the Jagdale family, the wait continues. What began as a public assurance of swift assistance has turned into a prolonged administrative process, leaving a bereaved daughter still hoping that the commitment made to her family will eventually be fulfilled.
