According to intelligence inputs, there are credible threats of a coordinated terror strike being planned by extremist groups, with Delhi and Ayodhya identified as primary targets. Intelligence Inputs and Threat Assessment
Security agencies have received detailed information suggesting that terror outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammad and Al Qaeda are attempting to execute attacks during the Republic Day period. Intelligence officials believe that the planning has been done locally with support from handlers operating outside India. The intention, as per the assessment, is to strike multiple locations simultaneously in order to create panic and disrupt national celebrations.
Ayodhya and Ram Mandir Under Heightened Watch
Apart from Delhi, the holy city of Ayodhya has also been placed under enhanced security. Intelligence agencies have warned that the Ram Mandir could be a symbolic target. The sense of urgency has increased after security agencies dismantled a terror module in Faridabad, where over 2,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate were recovered. Officials believe that this seizure disrupted a much larger plan. Despite this setback, agencies warn that the extremist groups remain determined to carry out their objectives and may attempt alternative methods or locations.
Origin of the Plot and Ongoing Operations
Investigations suggest that the module involved in the current threat may have its roots in Jammu and Kashmir, where the attacks are believed to have been conceptualized. Extensive search operations are underway to trace remaining operatives and locate explosive materials that could be used in future attempts.
