High Alert : Across Delhi and Ayodhya Ahead of Republic Day Celebrations
High Alert: The Intelligence Bureau has issued a high-level advisory urging all security and law enforcement agencies to remain on maximum alert ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital. According to intelligence inputs, there are credible threats of a coordinated terror strike being planned by extremist groups, with Delhi and Ayodhya identified as primary targets. The warning has prompted intensified security arrangements across sensitive locations and critical infrastructure.

Intelligence Inputs and Threat Assessment
Security agencies have received detailed information suggesting that terror outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammad and Al Qaeda are attempting to execute attacks during the Republic Day period. Intelligence officials believe that the planning has been done locally with support from handlers operating outside India. The intention, as per the assessment, is to strike multiple locations simultaneously in order to create panic and disrupt national celebrations.
Ayodhya and Ram Mandir Under Heightened Watch
Apart from Delhi, the holy city of Ayodhya has also been placed under enhanced security. Intelligence agencies have warned that the Ram Mandir could be a symbolic target. As a result, security forces have increased patrols, deployed additional personnel, and strengthened surveillance systems in and around the temple complex and adjoining areas.
Link to Previous Red Fort Blast Case
The current alert comes in the backdrop of a recent explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi. Investigators revealed that the blast was inspired by Jaish-linked elements and was originally intended to be executed on Republic Day. However, preliminary findings indicate that the attacker may have panicked after a major police crackdown and detonated the device earlier than planned.
Faridabad Module and Explosives Recovery
The sense of urgency has increased after security agencies dismantled a terror module in Faridabad, where over 2,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate were recovered. Officials believe that this seizure disrupted a much larger plan. Despite this setback, agencies warn that the extremist groups remain determined to carry out their objectives and may attempt alternative methods or locations.
Origin of the Plot and Ongoing Operations
Investigations suggest that the module involved in the current threat may have its roots in Jammu and Kashmir, where the attacks are believed to have been conceptualized. Extensive search operations are underway to trace remaining operatives and locate explosive materials that could be used in future attempts. Security forces across multiple states have been instructed to maintain close coordination and share real-time intelligence.
Online Radicalization and External Support
Officials have also flagged a sharp rise in online propaganda and social media activity aimed at radicalizing youth. Intelligence reports point to the involvement of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, which is allegedly coordinating the operation. Cadres from Punjab are suspected to be providing logistical support, drawing on networks linked to pro-Khalistan groups.
Eastern Border Concerns and Bangladesh Angle
Beyond northern India, agencies are keeping a close watch on West Bengal and several northeastern states. Recent intelligence indicates that extremist elements based in Bangladesh may attempt infiltration, taking advantage of upcoming elections in the region. Officials warn that political activity and porous borders could be exploited for disruptive actions.
Security Agencies on Maximum Preparedness
With multiple threat vectors emerging simultaneously, Indian security agencies have adopted a proactive posture. Continuous monitoring, inter-agency coordination, and preventive operations are being carried out to ensure that Republic Day celebrations remain peaceful and secure. Authorities have reiterated that while the threat is serious, robust measures are in place to counter any attempt to destabilize the situation.
