SIR in Bengal: 57 lakh excludable voters were discovered, and 99.63 percent of enumeration forms were digitized
SIR in Bengal: 99.53 percent of enumeration forms have been digitized during West Bengal’s current Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and there are just over 57 lakh excludable voters.
The enumeration form digitization is expected to be finished by the evening of December 11; the draft voters’ list will thereafter be released on December 16.
A little over 24 lakh of the 57 lakh possibly excludable voters are deceased, according to sources in the Chief Electoral Officers’ (CEO) office in West Bengal.
Up till Tuesday afternoon, well over 20 lakh moved votes had been found. Up until that day, almost 11 lakh voters had been classified as untraceable.
The remaining voters who may be excluded are either duplicate voters, whose names appear more than once, or voters who are judged excludable for other reasons.
In the meantime, two booth-level officers (BLO), one electoral resignation officer (ERO), and one assistant electoral resignation officer (AERO) have received show-cause notices from the CEO’s office for willfully disobeying the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) mandated guidelines to be followed in the revision exercise.
All four of the election officials who received show-cause letters are associated with the South 24 Parganas district’s Baruipur (Purba) Assembly seat.
On December 16, the draft voters’ list will be published, concluding the first phase of the three-stage SIR.
The release of the final electoral register, the third and final step, will take place on February 14 after the conclusion of the second stage. The dates for the state’s important Assembly elections are anticipated to be announced by the ECI shortly after the final electoral register is published.
Manoj Kumar Agarwal, the CEO of West Bengal, will meet with the five other special roll observers that ECI appointed last week on Wednesday. The five organizational divisions in the state will be overseen by these five extra special duty observers.
