Security – Gujarat Assembly Evacuated After Anonymous Bomb Threat Email

Security –  The Gujarat Legislative Assembly witnessed a tense situation on Wednesday after authorities received an anonymous email warning of possible bomb explosions within the Assembly complex and at other locations across the state. The alert prompted immediate precautionary action, briefly halting the ongoing Assembly session.

Swift Evacuation and Emergency Response

As soon as the threat was reported, officials suspended proceedings inside the Assembly. Legislators, government officials, and staff members were quickly moved out of the premises to ensure their safety. Security teams acted without delay, following established emergency protocols to prevent any potential risk.

Multiple agencies, including local police units, the Anti-Terrorism Squad, bomb disposal experts, and trained dog squads, were deployed to the site. The entire complex was sealed off while teams carried out an extensive search operation across the building and surrounding areas.

Thorough Search Finds No Explosives

After several rounds of inspection, authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive materials were found within the Assembly premises. Following the clearance, officials allowed normal functioning to resume.

A legislator present during the incident stated that all procedures were handled with care and discipline. According to the official, the situation was brought under control efficiently, and legislative work continued once safety checks were completed.

Cyber Investigation Underway

While physical searches yielded no threat, attention has shifted to identifying the source of the email. Cybercrime units have begun tracking digital footprints to determine whether the message was intended as a prank or represents a more serious attempt to create panic.

Investigators are examining technical details such as IP addresses, email routing, and possible links to previous incidents. Officials have emphasized that strict action will be taken once the sender is identified.

Heightened Security Across Gandhinagar

In response to the alert, security measures were intensified not only at the Assembly but also in key government buildings, including the Secretariat. Police presence was increased across Gandhinagar, and surveillance was strengthened as a precautionary measure.

Authorities maintained a high alert status across sensitive locations in the state, ensuring that any unusual activity could be addressed promptly.

Pattern of Similar Threats in Recent Months

This is not the first time such threats have disrupted normal operations in Gujarat. Over the past few months, several public institutions have received similar emails, leading to temporary evacuations and large-scale security checks.

Courts across the state, including the High Court and district courts in cities such as Rajkot, Vadodara, Valsad, Gandhinagar, and Mehsana, have previously faced comparable situations. In each case, thorough searches were conducted, but no explosives were discovered, and the threats were eventually deemed false.

Schools Also Targeted by Hoax Messages

Educational institutions have also been affected by such incidents. Earlier this year, multiple schools in Ahmedabad received threatening emails just ahead of Republic Day celebrations. The messages caused concern among parents and authorities, leading to evacuations and inspections.

In another instance around the same period, dozens of schools in Ahmedabad and Vadodara were targeted by coordinated emails. Security teams carried out detailed checks before confirming that these alerts were not genuine.

Authorities Urge Vigilance

Officials have reiterated the importance of treating every threat with seriousness, even when previous incidents have turned out to be hoaxes. Law enforcement agencies continue to appeal to the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.

The ongoing investigation aims not only to identify the sender of the latest email but also to prevent similar disruptions in the future by strengthening digital monitoring and response mechanisms.
