In a post to X, Singh said, “On Armed Forces Veterans Day, I bow in deep gratitude to our veterans and serving personnel whose lives are devoted to courage, honour and service before self.”They reflect the lasting spirit of India, protect the essence of our Republic, and constitute the living shield of our frontiers by their sacrifices made with unwavering faith and calm determination,” he added.”Our dedication to the dignity, welfare, and well-being of veterans, active military personnel, and their families will remain absolute, unwavering, and resolute,” the defense minister said. “The nation’s gratitude to its soldiers is eternal.”

The Armed Forces Veterans Day commemorates the birthday of the late Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, who retired on this day in 1953.

Field Marshal Cariappa, the Indian Army’s First Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C), is a legendary figure in the country’s military history. He led the soldiers to victory in the 1947 war and established a lasting legacy of discipline, service, and patriotism.

The courageous troops who served in the Indian Armed Forces are honored and recognized on this day.

To commemorate the day, a number of activities and outreach initiatives will be planned around the nation.

The major ceremony at Delhi Cantt’s Manekshaw Centre will be attended by the Defense Minister. Veterans living in Delhi/NCR will be present.

34 Rajya Sainik Boards in States and Union Territories and 434 Zila Sainik Boards in other places in India will celebrate the day.

In order to address the concerns of veterans and their dependents, these events will include veterans’ rallies, the installation of grievance redressal counters, and facilitation help desks by the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force Record Offices, the System for Pension Administration-Raksha (SPARSH), and the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS).

Banks, employment agencies, and government welfare and defense organizations will also put up booths to provide veterans and their families support and information.
