Rajasthan CM : Sharma uses kites to launch the Makar Sankranti celebration in Jaipur

Rajasthan CM: On Wednesday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma commemorated the traditional holiday of Makar Sankranti by flying a kite to launch the kite festival at the Jal Mahal embankment.

Additionally, the Chief Minister attended a kite show with an Operation Sindoor theme. He engaged with folk musicians and commended them for their efforts to save Rajasthan’s cultural legacy.

CM Sharma greeted the state’s citizens on Makar Sankranti, stating that the holiday represents Rajasthan’s rich customs and culture. Events like the Kite Festival, he said, support traditional culture, foster creativity and social consciousness, and contribute significantly to the growth of tourism.

The CM sent wishes and shared relevant images on his X account. “A kite was flown to kick off the kite festival held on the Jal Mahal embankment in Jaipur on the holy day of Makar Sankranti. Our rich culture and timeless customs, which have bound us together from generation to generation, are symbolized by this kite festival.

The kite festival is being held this year in all seven divisional headquarters of the state, as well as at Jaisalmer and Mount Abu, per the Chief Minister’s directives.

At the Jal Mahal embankment, there was a lively gathering of colorful kites, traditional celebrations, and both local and foreign visitors.

MLA Shri Balmukundacharya, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) Praveen Gupta, Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riyad, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, other top officials, both local and international visitors, and members of the public attended the event.

Minister Diya Kumari made a post on X as well “Today, on the sacred occasion of Makar Sankranti, the Jaipur Kite Festival was inaugurated from the embankment of the world-famous Jal Mahal by the Honourable Chief Minister Shri @BhajanlalBjpJi.”

Chief Minister Sharma also flew a kite at his home earlier in the day to commemorate Makar Sankranti.

He emphasized the need of preserving folk customs and sent a message of respect for them. “The festival, which is celebrated with the sun’s transition into the northern hemisphere, symbolizes cultural heritage and infuses positive energy into life,” he said, wishing the state’s citizens pleasure and success.
