RailOne – Indian Railways App Crosses 2 Crore Downloads

RailOne –  India’s railway sector has marked a significant digital milestone as RailOne, the integrated mobileapplication of Indian Railways, has surpassed two crore downloads in under eight months. The app has also crossed the mark of five lakh ticket bookings per day this month, reflecting strong adoption among passengers nationwide.

Rapid Growth Since Official Launch

RailOne was formally introduced on July 1 by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems, the technology arm of Indian Railways, the application was envisioned as a unified platform to simplify access to railway services.

Since its rollout, the app has steadily gained traction across urban and rural regions alike. Officials note that the steady rise in downloads and ticket transactions signals increasing passenger confidence in digital services offered by the national transporter.

A Unified Digital Platform for Passengers

RailOne has been designed to function as a comprehensive digital gateway. Through a single interface, users can book reserved and unreserved tickets, purchase platform tickets, check train schedules, track PNR status, and access other essential passenger services.

The consolidation of multiple services into one platform aims to eliminate the need for separate applications or website visits. Railway authorities say this integration has helped streamline the ticketing experience while reducing complexity for users.

The app is currently facilitating nearly six lakh ticket bookings per day, demonstrating both operational capacity and technical stability. Railway officials describe this volume as evidence of the platform’s scalability and reliability under heavy demand.

Strengthening the Push for Digital Rail Services

The achievement is being viewed as part of Indian Railways’ broader push toward modernisation. Over recent years, the transporter has invested in technology-driven reforms intended to improve passenger convenience and service efficiency.

RailOne’s architecture is built to support high transaction volumes while maintaining a user-friendly design. Industry observers say such digital tools are playing an important role in reshaping how citizens interact with public transport systems.

The railway ministry has indicated that the application will continue to expand its capabilities. New features, including artificial intelligence-driven tools, are expected to be added in phases to enhance passenger support and operational insights.

RailTech Policy and Tribunal Digitisation Announced

Alongside the app’s milestone, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently unveiled two additional reforms under the “52 Reforms in 52 Weeks” programme. These include the introduction of a RailTech Policy and the complete digitisation of the Railway Claims Tribunal.

The RailTech Policy is designed to encourage participation from startups, innovators, industry players, and academic institutions. According to the ministry, the policy simplifies the selection process for innovators and establishes a dedicated Rail Tech Portal to manage submissions and innovation challenges.

Under the revised framework, proposals can be submitted through a single-stage detailed process. The government has also increased financial support for scaling successful solutions, raising the scale-up grant more than threefold. The maximum funding available for prototype development and trial runs has been doubled, making it easier for innovators to test and refine their concepts within the railway ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the digitisation of the Railway Claims Tribunal is expected to speed up claim processing and improve transparency for passengers seeking compensation or dispute resolution.

A Technology-Driven Future for Indian Railways

Officials say these measures collectively underline Indian Railways’ commitment to building a technology-enabled ecosystem. With RailOne continuing to record strong engagement and new innovation policies taking shape, the focus remains on delivering efficient, accessible, and modern rail services to millions of passengers across the country.
