President Murmu :Today on Nupi Lal Day in Manipur will honor female fighters
President Murmu: During his two-day visit to Manipur, President Droupadi Murmu will honor the state’s courageous female warriors on Friday as part of the 86th Nupi Lal Day celebration.

The President will pay her homage to the women who spearheaded historic resistance activities against British colonial authority in 1904 and 1939 when she visits the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex in Imphal.
Together, these movements—known as Nupi Lal—remain potent representations of the bravery, leadership, and unity of Manipuri women.
President Murmu will visit Senapati district, a significant Naga-inhabited area, after the tribute ceremony in Imphal. There, she will speak at a public gathering.
She will lay the foundation stones for a number of development projects and launch a number of initiatives meant to improve the district’s socioeconomic growth and infrastructure.
Prior to the high-profile visit, extensive preparations have been made around Imphal since Wednesday. The roughly 7-kilometer length between Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex has been renovated, painted, and embellished with banners, flags, and other items on both sides. To welcome the President’s convoy, large welcome hoardings have also been erected along the road.
In the last three months, President Murmu has made two significant high-level visits to Manipur.
While visited the state on September 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the Union government’s commitment to fortifying Manipur as part of the Viksit Bharat agenda.
The Prime Minister opened 17 infrastructure projects totaling Rs 1,200 crore during the tour, including the SEZ building in Mantripukhri, the Civil Secretariat, the Police Headquarters, and new Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata. Additionally, he lay the groundwork for 19 other projects totaling Rs 7,300 crore that would address a wide variety of developmental requirements in different regions.
President Murmu’s visit today is anticipated to strengthen the Center’s continued emphasis on development, unity, and the restoration of peace in the state while also highlighting the history of Manipuri women’s resistance activities.
