PowerCut – Scheduled Maintenance to Disrupt Supply in Tamil Nadu Areas

PowerCut – The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has announced planned power interruptions in several parts of the state to facilitate essential maintenance work on the electricity network. The temporary shutdowns are part of routine efforts to strengthen infrastructure and ensure stable power distribution in the long term. Residents, commercial establishments and industrial units in the affected zones have been urged to prepare in advance for the scheduled outage.

Maintenance Work Behind the Shutdown

According to the official notification issued by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited, the power suspension will allow engineers to carry out preventive maintenance and system upgrades. Such exercises are undertaken periodically to reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns and to improve overall service reliability.

Officials stated that the outages will be temporary and confined to specific neighborhoods. Power supply is expected to resume once the maintenance activities are completed.

Areas in Chennai to Experience Interruption

Several localities in Chennai are set to face temporary disruption. In the Ramapuram region, areas including Mangala Nagar, Ambal Nagar, Porur, Mount Poonamallee Road, R.E. Nagar and Vanniyar Street will be affected during the scheduled hours.

In the Ambattur zone, the shutdown will extend to Manalodai Street, Padma Srinivasa Nagar, Saraswathi Nagar, Lenin Nagar, Erikkarai Road and Venkateswara Nagar.

Vyasarpadi and its surrounding neighborhoods will also see power supply halted for maintenance. The affected pockets include EH Road, PV Colony, Shastri Nagar, Indira Nagar Extension, the Vyasarpadi Industrial Estate, Gandhi Nagar, Stephen Road, Vyasar Nagar and Pudunagar. Major stretches such as MBM Street, Market Street, Central Cross Streets 10 to 19, East Cross Streets 10 to 19, MKB Nagar 1st to 8th Main Roads, Kalyanpuram, Sathyamoorthy Nagar 1st to 25th Streets, Samiyarthottam 1st to 4th Streets, Sudha 4th Street, Pallaiya 4th Street, Colony and Sharma Nagar are also listed in the advisory.

Tiruppur District Also Included

Beyond Chennai, parts of Tiruppur district will also undergo scheduled power cuts. In Palladam and adjoining areas, electricity will be suspended in Tiruppur Road, Sivanmalai, Coimbatore Road, Chennimalai Road, Chennimalaipalayam, Arasampalayam, Kovilpalayam and Karur Road.

Other locations identified for the outage include Marudhurai, Mullippuram, Kuttapalayam, Vadapalani, Chinna Kodangipalayam, Periya Kodangipalayam, Petham Poochipalayam, Singapore Nagar, Ekaranpalayam and Chinna Kovil.

Authorities have clarified that the duration of the power cut may vary depending on the progress of maintenance activities in each area.

Advisory for Residents and Businesses

With the scheduled power outage approaching, officials have advised the public to take necessary precautions. Households are encouraged to store drinking water, keep essential items ready and ensure that backup lighting arrangements are in place.

People living in multi-storey buildings have been specifically cautioned against using elevators during the outage period to avoid inconvenience or safety risks. Commercial establishments and small industries are also advised to plan their operations accordingly to minimize disruption.

For any electricity-related concerns during the shutdown, consumers can reach out to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board through the designated customer service channels.

The utility provider emphasized that such planned maintenance plays a key role in strengthening the electricity network and ensuring uninterrupted service in the future. Residents are requested to cooperate with the authorities as the improvement works are carried out.
