PM Modi: At least eight pilgrims were killed in a horrific bus accident in the Alluri Sitharama Raju area of Andhra Pradesh on Friday, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged financial aid for the victims.

He conveyed his profound sorrow over the catastrophe and his condolences to the families of the deceased in a statement posted on X by the Prime Minister’s Office. We are saddened by the deaths caused by a bus accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharama Raju district. During this trying time, my thoughts are with the impacted individuals and their families. “Hoping for the injured to recover quickly,” the PMO said.
Additionally, an ex gratia payment from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) was authorized by the Prime Minister. “The next of kin of each dead person will get an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF. He assured the families affected by the tragedy that the wounded will get Rs. 50,000.
On the Chintur-Naredumilli ghat route, which is renowned for its treacherous bends and challenging terrain, the accident happened early on Friday morning.
The private transport bus, which was carrying 37 passengers and two drivers, reportedly fell into a steep canyon after the driver allegedly failed to negotiate a tight bend, according to early reports. Before plunging down the valley, the car is said to have struck a safety wall.
All of the travelers were pilgrims from the Chittoor district who had visited the holy Bhadrachalam temple in Telangana and were on their way to the Annavaram shrine in Kakinada district.
Rescue attempts were made more difficult by the accident’s distant location. It took a while for the Mothugunta police to learn about the accident since there was no cell network access in the region.
Police crews raced to the scene and began a massive rescue effort as soon as they received the warning. While the wounded were taken to a hospital in Chintur, eight dead were found. To guarantee prompt evacuation and medical assistance, three ambulances and five police cars were sent out.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, expressed astonishment at the disaster and asked authorities for reports right away. He gave the administration instructions to make sure the wounded received the finest care possible and to provide the victims’ relatives with the support they needed.
