Parliament – Budget Session Resumes with Key Corporate Law Amendments on Agenda
Parliament – The second phase of Parliament’s Budget Session is set to resume on Monday, with the government preparing to advance several important legislative and policy measures. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to introduce the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at updating provisions within the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, and the Companies Act, 2013.

Finance Bill and Legislative Agenda Take Centre Stage
According to the official schedule released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Finance Minister will also seek consideration of the Finance Bill, 2026. This bill is crucial as it outlines the government’s financial proposals for the upcoming fiscal year 2026–27. The Lok Sabha is scheduled to begin its proceedings at 11 AM, marking the continuation of discussions and decision-making on key economic matters.
Ministers to Present Key Documents in Lok Sabha
Several Union ministers are slated to table important documents during the session. Among them are Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, Shobha Karandlaje, Kirit Vardhan Singh, Sukanta Majumdar, and Harsh Malhotra. These papers are expected to cover a range of administrative and policy-related updates from their respective ministries.
Focus on Women’s Safety in the Digital Space
A significant report on women’s empowerment will also be presented in the House. BJP Members of Parliament D Purandeswari and Shobhanaben Baraiya will table findings from a parliamentary committee examining cyber crimes and online safety for women. The report relates to the functioning of both the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, reflecting growing concerns over digital security.
Housing and Urban Affairs Reports to Be Submitted
In addition, members from regional parties will contribute to the session’s proceedings. Telugu Desam Party MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy and YSR Congress Party MP Gumma Thanuja Rani are expected to present reports from the Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs. These documents will include updates on government actions taken in response to earlier recommendations, including an evaluation of the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
Updates on Financial Sector and Corporate Affairs
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary is scheduled to provide a detailed statement regarding steps taken by the government on recommendations related to strengthening credit access for the MSME sector, reviewing insurance sector performance, and addressing demands for grants for the financial year 2025–26.
Similarly, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra will present a report outlining government action on earlier committee recommendations concerning budgetary allocations for 2024–25.
Previous Session Highlights and Developments
Before the session break, the Lok Sabha had already approved demands for grants across several ministries. These were passed through a voice vote after Speaker Om Birla applied the guillotine procedure to conclude pending discussions efficiently. The House also cleared funding proposals related to the Railway Ministry and passed the Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2026.
Earlier developments included the revocation of suspension for eight opposition MPs on March 17. These members had been suspended in February over alleged disorderly conduct during proceedings.
Budget Session Timeline and Expectations
The second phase of the Budget Session will continue until April 2. During this period, Parliament is expected to focus primarily on passing key legislation and finalizing discussions around the Union Budget for 2026–27. The broader session, which began on January 28 with the President’s address to a joint sitting, spans 30 sittings over a total of 65 days.
As proceedings resume, attention will remain on how effectively the government navigates legislative priorities while addressing concerns raised by members across party lines.
