Nitin Nabin : Begins Two-Day West Bengal Tour to Review BJP Readiness
Nitin Nabin: Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin is set to begin a two-day visit to West Bengal from Tuesday, marking his first official tour of the state since taking charge at the national level. The visit is focused on assessing organisational preparedness, engaging with party workers, and strengthening groundwork ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

First Visit After Taking National Responsibility
According to the Bharatiya Janata Party, this will be Nabin’s first engagement in the state since assuming the role of National President. The visit is being viewed as an important step in reinforcing coordination between the national leadership and the state unit as the party intensifies its election strategy.
Arrival in Durgapur and Public Engagements
Nitin Nabin is scheduled to arrive at Andal Airport in Durgapur on Tuesday evening, where senior party leaders and office-bearers will receive him. Shortly after his arrival, he will inaugurate the Kamal Mela at Chitralaya Mela Maidan in Durgapur. The event is being organised by the Durgapur Nagarik Manch, with organisers stating that the initiative aims to highlight and celebrate the cultural heritage of the state.
Core Committee Meeting Planned
Later in the evening, Nabin will preside over a closed-door meeting with members of the BJP’s West Bengal core committee. The discussions are expected to focus on organisational structure, district-level coordination, and strategies to improve outreach in key constituencies. Party sources indicate that feedback from ground-level workers will also form a significant part of the deliberations.
Religious Visit and Worker Conferences
On Wednesday morning, the BJP National President will visit the historic Bhiringi Kali Mandir to offer prayers. Following this, he will address the Bardhaman division Karyakarta Sammelan at the same venue in Durgapur. The programme will bring together party workers from across the division, providing an opportunity for direct interaction with the national leadership.
Meetings in Asansol Region
After concluding the Bardhaman division programme, Nabin will travel to Raniganj, where he is scheduled to address the Asansol district Karyakarta Sammelan. These meetings are intended to motivate grassroots workers and review local-level preparedness as the party builds momentum for the upcoming assembly polls.
Deployment of Prabasi Leaders Across the State
In preparation for the 2026 elections, the BJP has finalised a comprehensive plan to deploy Prabasi leaders from multiple states to different regions of West Bengal. These leaders will be assigned responsibilities across zones such as Nabadwip, Kolkata, and the Howrah-Hooghly-Midnapore belt. The initiative is aimed at strengthening organisational reach and ensuring consistent monitoring of campaign activities.
Coordination With State Unit Leadership
The list of Prabasi leaders includes senior politicians, sitting and former legislators, ex-ministers, organisational office-bearers, and youth leaders drawn from states including Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Tripura. They are expected to work closely with the West Bengal BJP unit to support booth-level mobilisation and constituency-specific planning.
Assembly Constituency In-Charges Announced
West Bengal BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya has already appointed in-charges for all 294 assembly constituencies. The announcement is part of an early organisational push to streamline responsibilities and ensure sustained engagement across every seat in the state.
Amit Shah’s Upcoming Visit
Meanwhile, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit West Bengal on January 30 and 31. During his two-day tour, the Union Home Minister is expected to hold key organisational and political meetings. Party leaders believe his visit will further energise cadres and provide additional direction as the BJP sharpens its strategy for the electoral challenges ahead in West Bengal.
