Mumbai Crime : In the Satara Drug Case Branch Invokes MCOCA
Mumbai Crime: In the well-known Satara drug case, the Mumbai Crime Branch on Friday invoked the strict Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The judgment comes after MD medicines valued at ₹115 crore were found during a significant raid on a medication production facility in Savarigaon village, Satara district, on December 13, 2025.

The Crime Branch apprehended seven suspects and shut down the illicit drug plant during the operation. The Crime Branch has added parts of MCOCA to the case due to the crime’s severity and the involvement of an organized crime group.
An officer of the level of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) will now conduct the case’s further investigation after the invocation of MCOCA.
A political dispute in Maharashtra was also sparked by the Crime Branch’s intervention in Savarigaon. Nonetheless, an official statement from the Crime Branch emphatically denied that any political person was involved in the matter.
