Missing Children – Delhi Police Reunite Two Minors With Families After Swift Action
Missing Children – The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi Police has successfully traced and rescued two minor boys who had gone missing from separate parts of the city, officials confirmed. Both children were found safe and have since been reunited with their families following coordinated rescue efforts.

Search Launched After Child Disappears in Mukherjee Nagar
The first case involved a 12-year-old boy who went missing from the Mukherjee Nagar area on September 6, 2025. After the disappearance was reported, the local police promptly registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Given the child’s age and vulnerable condition, the matter was escalated for specialized handling.
Recognizing the sensitivity of the case, the investigation was handed over to the AHTU, which functions as the nodal agency for missing children and human trafficking-related cases in Delhi. The unit initiated a multi-layered search operation to trace the boy as quickly as possible.
Coordinated Efforts Lead to Recovery
According to officials, the AHTU team reviewed CCTV footage from nearby locations, carried out door-to-door inquiries in surrounding neighborhoods, and conducted technical analysis using available digital leads. Details of the missing child were also circulated through social media platforms to widen the search network. Family members and local residents were questioned to reconstruct the boy’s last known movements.
These combined efforts eventually led to the successful recovery of the child. Police confirmed that he was found unharmed and was safely handed over to his family after completing necessary verification procedures.
Background Reveals Vulnerability of the Child
During the course of the inquiry, police learned that the child had been living with his family in a rented accommodation in Nirankari Colony. To support the household, he reportedly worked as a vehicle cleaner during the day and assisted as a night-time security guard. Officials noted that the boy was mentally vulnerable, which increased concerns regarding his safety after he went missing.
Investigators determined that the child had wandered away while playing near his home. Disoriented and unable to find his way back, he continued moving across the city and eventually reached the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal, where he was later located.
Second Case Reported From Wazirabad Area
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was reported missing from the Wazirabad area on January 22, 2026. When the family was unable to locate him, a formal complaint was filed, leading to the registration of an FIR under Section 137(2) of the BNS on January 24.
Once again, due to the age of the missing individual, the case was transferred to the AHTU for focused investigation. The unit applied technical surveillance tools and conducted field-level verification to trace the boy’s whereabouts.
Recovery Made at Azadpur Subzi Mandi
Based on specific intelligence inputs and coordinated efforts, including information provided by ASI Mahesh, the police were able to track the boy to Azadpur Subzi Mandi. He was recovered on February 4, police said.
Further questioning revealed that the teenager had left home following a dispute with family members. Instead of falling victim to exploitation, he had gone to stay at his maternal aunt’s residence, where he remained until he was traced by the police.
Legal Procedures Completed, Children Returned Safely
After their recovery, both minors were produced before the respective local police units for completion of required legal formalities. Authorities ensured that due process was followed before reuniting the boys with their families.
Delhi Police officials reiterated the importance of timely reporting in missing child cases and emphasized that swift coordination between families, local police stations, and specialized units plays a critical role in ensuring safe recoveries.
