Snow covered roads, rooftops, and pine forests, creating a lively and celebratory mood among visitors who stepped out to enjoy the season’s charm. The sudden change in weather added to the appeal of the destination, drawing crowds eager to experience snowfall firsthand.

The overnight snowfall blanketed the town in white, with tourists gathering at scenic spots, capturing photographs, and participating in snow-related activities. Hotels and local businesses reported increased movement as visitors made the most of the wintry conditions.

Visitors Welcome the Snowfall Experience

Ajit Singh, a tourist from Chandigarh, described the atmosphere as pleasant and reassuring. Speaking to ANI, she said Manali offered a peaceful and enjoyable environment for families and travelers. She noted that despite earlier concerns surrounding travel during the Republic Day period, the situation remained calm and welcoming. According to her, the snowfall added to the joy of the trip, and tourists were freely exploring the area without disruption.

She also highlighted the drop in temperatures, which had earlier dipped to minus seven or eight degrees Celsius. With the snowfall now underway, she said visitors were embracing the cold weather and enjoying the seasonal change without any major difficulties.

Snowfall Meets Weather Predictions

Another visitor, Vijay Singh, expressed excitement after witnessing the snowfall that had been forecast earlier in the day. He said seeing the prediction turn into reality made the experience more special. Describing the snow as heavy, he shared that the sight exceeded expectations and offered a memorable experience for those present.

According to him, Manali remains one of the few destinations where travelers can reliably witness such snowfall during winter. He encouraged others seeking a similar experience to visit the hill station, emphasizing the calm and scenic environment created by the snow-covered landscape.

Meteorological Department Issues Regional Weather Outlook

The India Meteorological Department provided a broader weather update on Sunday, outlining the conditions responsible for the snowfall. According to the department, two western disturbances occurring in quick succession are influencing weather patterns across the Western Himalayan region.

As a result, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are expected in several areas between February 1 and February 3. The impact is not limited to the hills, as adjoining plains in northwest India and parts of central India are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during the same period.

Additional Weather System Expected in Early February

The department further stated that a third western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region between February 5 and February 7, 2026. This system may bring additional precipitation, extending winter conditions in higher-altitude regions.

During the February 1 to February 3 window, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall are expected across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Weather activity during this period may also include thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

Advisory for Travelers and Residents

The meteorological outlook indicates wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 kilometers per hour in some areas. Authorities have advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, particularly in regions prone to heavy snowfall or strong winds.
