LPG – Goa Government Reviews Cooking Gas Stock Amid Supply Concerns
LPG – Goa is currently holding cooking gas reserves that may last only about two weeks, according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who addressed the situation on Wednesday. The disclosure comes at a time when geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region have raised concerns about energy supply chains. Despite the limited stock, Sawant assured residents that the Government of India has promised continued deliveries once the existing reserves begin to run low.
Centre Monitoring LPG Availability Across States
The Chief Minister said the central government has set up a special committee to evaluate the availability of LPG cylinders across different states. The panel’s main objective is to ensure that each region maintains at least a 15-day reserve of cooking gas to avoid disruptions in supply.
According to Sawant, officials from the committee have been contacting state authorities individually to collect updated information about current stocks. Goa Asked to Submit Detailed LPG Stock Report
Sawant explained that the Centre has requested a comprehensive report from Goa detailing the current inventory and supply chain status of LPG cylinders. State authorities are compiling the data to provide an accurate picture of the situation.
The report will help the central government understand how much cooking gas is available locally and what measures may be required to maintain uninterrupted delivery to consumers. Similar concerns have been reported in neighboring Maharashtra, where some small food establishments have reportedly halted operations due to limited LPG availability. Owners of bars and restaurants in certain areas have temporarily shut their businesses, citing difficulties in securing regular gas supplies.
Others have adjusted their menus, choosing to serve only dishes that require less fuel. By limiting the number of items offered, they aim to manage the available gas supply while keeping their establishments open.
