LPG – Delhi Congress Workers Protest Across City Over LPG Price Rise
LPG – A large group of Congress workers staged demonstrations across Delhi on Thursday, raising concerns over the recent increase in LPG cylinder prices. The protests were organised outside gas agencies at more than 250 locations across 14 districts of the national capital. Party workers demanded that the government immediately withdraw the latest price hike, arguing that it has added financial pressure on households already struggling with rising living costs.

Demonstrations Held Across Multiple Districts
According to party leaders, protests took place simultaneously at 258 gas agency locations throughout Delhi. Congress workers gathered outside distribution centres carrying placards and banners calling for relief for consumers. Many protesters also displayed empty LPG cylinders during the demonstrations to symbolise the difficulties faced by families due to rising cooking gas prices.
The protests were organised as part of a coordinated campaign across the capital. Participants said the aim was to highlight what they described as the growing burden on ordinary citizens caused by higher fuel prices. Party members alleged that the increase in LPG prices is affecting both households and small businesses that depend on commercial cylinders.
Congress Leadership Criticises LPG Price Hike
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav criticised the recent revision in cooking gas prices and said the increase has come at a time when many families are already dealing with financial strain. He stated that the price hike had further intensified the challenges faced by middle-class and lower-income households.
According to him, the government recently raised the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 60 and commercial cylinders by Rs 115. As a result, a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi now costs Rs 913, while the price of a commercial cylinder has reached Rs 1,883.
Yadav said that such increases directly impact household budgets because cooking gas is an essential commodity used daily by millions of families. He urged the government to reconsider the decision and provide relief to consumers by reversing the price hike.
Symbolic Protest Using Empty Cylinders
During the demonstrations, several Congress workers carried empty LPG cylinders to draw attention to the issue. The symbolic display was intended to represent the difficulties people may face in affording cooking gas if prices continue to rise.
Protesters also raised slogans and held placards calling for an immediate rollback of the increased rates. Many participants said that families are already dealing with higher expenses related to food, transportation, and other basic needs, making additional increases in fuel costs particularly difficult to manage.
Party members said the demonstrations were peaceful and focused on drawing public attention to the impact of rising fuel prices on daily life.
Political Response and Ongoing Debate
The protests reflect the continuing political debate surrounding fuel pricing in the country. Opposition parties have frequently raised concerns over the rising cost of essential commodities, including LPG cylinders, arguing that such increases place additional pressure on ordinary citizens.
Congress leaders in Delhi said they would continue to raise the issue through public campaigns and protests if the price hike is not reconsidered. They emphasised that cooking gas is a basic household necessity and that affordability remains a major concern for many families.
Meanwhile, the issue of LPG pricing continues to be discussed among policymakers and political groups, with calls for measures that can help reduce the financial burden on consumers.
