Kanpur: After luggage on a moving sleeper bus caught fire, passengers were rescued
Kanpur:On Friday morning near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, luggage on top of a moving sleeper bus caught fire on the Ramadevi overpass under the Chakeri police station. All of the passengers were saved by the prompt response of the vigilant traffic police officers on duty at the flyover.

Despite being sleeping at the time of the event, all of the passengers were successfully evacuated. The fire was contained when at least six fire engines arrived on the scene. The flyover had a traffic bottleneck as a result of the event. The fire damaged passenger property valued at many thousands of rupees, including cash.
The sleeper bus operated by Varanasi-based Palak Travels left Delhi for Varanasi on Thursday night, according to passengers. There were around forty-three people on board. The baggage suspiciously caught fire as the bus arrived at the Ramadevi overpass.
Driver Rishi Yadav halted the vehicle and ran away upon seeing the flames. In the meanwhile, traffic police officers who were positioned about 70 meters away hurried to the bus and helped the passengers get off. The whole car was on fire in a matter of minutes.
Several fire engines and Chakeri police came. The bus and the possessions of the passengers were entirely destroyed when the fire was put out after nearly an hour of work.
