Infrastructure – Nitin Nabin Reviews Key Drainage Projects in Patna
Infrastructure – Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitin Nabin on Tuesday conducted an on-site review of two major drainage infrastructure projects in Bihar’s capital, underscoring the state government’s focus on improving urban facilities and strengthening economic ties at the national level.

Inspection of Mandiri and Bakarganj Drain Projects
During his visit to Patna, Nabin assessed the ongoing construction work on the Mandiri and Bakarganj Nala schemes, which are aimed at easing waterlogging and enhancing drainage capacity in several parts of the city. Addressing reporters, he said the projects are progressing steadily and are expected to be completed in the near future.
Nabin, who also serves as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, stated that he has been personally overseeing the implementation process to ensure timely delivery. According to him, residents will benefit from improved civic amenities once the work is finalized. He noted that the development of large drainage channels is moving ahead swiftly, following directives from the Deputy Chief Minister.
The Mandiri and Bakarganj Nala initiatives form part of a broader effort to modernize urban infrastructure in Patna, a city that frequently grapples with waterlogging during the monsoon season. Officials believe that strengthening the drainage network will significantly reduce disruptions caused by heavy rainfall.
Focus on Timely Completion
Speaking on the sidelines of the inspection, Nabin emphasized that the administration remains committed to completing the projects without unnecessary delays. He indicated that close monitoring is being maintained at multiple levels to keep construction on schedule.
Improved drainage facilities are expected to not only provide relief to residents but also support smoother movement of traffic and reduce health risks linked to stagnant water. Civic authorities have highlighted that better stormwater management is essential for sustainable urban growth.
Remarks on India–US Interim Trade Agreement
Earlier this month, on January 7, Nabin also commented on developments at the national level, particularly regarding the framework of the Interim Trade Agreement between India and the United States. He described the announcement as a positive step toward expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement shared on social media, he said the agreement framework demonstrates growing strategic alignment between the two nations. The trade initiative, shaped under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, is expected to deepen economic engagement and reinforce mutual trust.
Economic Opportunities and Investment Prospects
Nabin pointed out that the agreement could open broader market access for Indian businesses while encouraging foreign investment. He noted that sectors such as agriculture, micro, small and medium enterprises, and export-oriented industries stand to gain from smoother trade procedures and stronger supply chain networks.
According to him, enhanced collaboration in technology and trade may create employment opportunities, particularly for young professionals. He added that the framework supports ongoing efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
The BJP leader further stated that farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, and stakeholders in the blue economy could experience tangible advantages if trade flows become more streamlined. He suggested that the agreement reflects India’s increasing role in global value chains and its position as a dependable economic partner.
Broader Vision for Development
Linking local and global developments, Nabin said infrastructure upgrades at the state level and strategic trade partnerships at the national level are both essential for long-term growth. He maintained that as India moves toward its development goals, coordinated efforts in urban planning and international economic cooperation will play a crucial role.
The review of drainage projects in Patna and his remarks on the trade agreement highlight a dual focus on strengthening public infrastructure and advancing economic engagement, reflecting ongoing priorities within the government’s broader development agenda.
