Hyderabad : Commissioner cautions intoxicated drivers that there would be no tolerance during the New Year’s festivities
Hyderabad : Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has cautioned drinkers that drunk driving would not be tolerated with only a few hours remaining in the New Year’s festivities.
He said that on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1, special drunk driving inspections would be carried out at 120 locations around the city. The first week of January will see the continuation of this unique campaign.
According to the Commissioner, cars belonging to anyone who are found driving while intoxicated will be impounded. He wrote on ‘X’ on Wednesday, “We will impose heavy fines, along with vehicle seizure, imprisonment, and cancellation of driving license.”People who drive recklessly, triple ride, or cause annoyance in public areas will face harsh consequences. He advised those who have had too much to drink to drive and to use taxis or drivers instead.
Police advise individuals to enjoy the celebrations safely with their friends, family, and relations, according to the Commissioner.
Sajjanar, who is well-known for taking a strong stand against intoxicated drivers and has even referred to them as terrorists, has been making odd remarks on the dangers of drunk driving on social media.
He said, “Dear Sirs and Madams, Indian law has not discovered Sections 123 and 567,” in one of these posts. So, congrats if you’re attempting to teach our staff these fictitious guidelines while stumbling around the wheel at two in the morning! Your future is obvious: writing fiction, stand-up comedy, or going viral for family embarrassment.”When alcohol and imagined law are combined, the following results: Instant Internet Fame: Watch your loved ones argue with police officers like they’re in a courtroom drama on Instagram and WhatsApp groups, which are now museums of your genius.”Your Car Enters Boot Camp: Your cherished vehicle spends a regimented spell in a jail facility. Taking notes on how not to follow your owner’s path is most likely what it is. Your real lawyer reads the actual sections out loud in this lawyer reality check. Everyone watches as your “expertise” collapses more quickly than your driving balance. Ego Obliteration: That inflated ego? Broken. No reappearance. The head officer wrote, “No mercy.”Life Lesson: Fiction literature is enjoyable. Drinks are enjoyable when used responsibly. Impersonating a legal whiz at midnight while driving while intoxicated? Not enjoyable,” he continued.
In the meanwhile, the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) has declared that anyone who would not be able to safely return home after drinking will have access to free transportation.
TGPWU and Bijliride said that the free ride service would be accessible inside the boundaries of the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates from 11 p.m. on December 31 to 1 a.m. on January 1.
