Healthcare – State Plans Health Cottages in Every Panchayat Soon

Healthcare –  The Jharkhand government has announced a plan to set up “health cottages” across all panchayats, aiming to strengthen basic medical services in rural areas. The announcement was made by Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari during a state-level workshop on the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine platform held in Ranchi. The initiative is expected to improve access to treatment at the grassroots level while also promoting healthier living conditions in villages.

Focus on Strengthening Rural Health Infrastructure

According to officials, the proposed health cottages will function as accessible points for primary healthcare services. These facilities are intended to bridge the gap between rural populations and medical care by ensuring that basic treatment is available closer to home. Alongside this, the government also plans to introduce Abua medical stores to make essential medicines more readily available to residents in remote areas.

The minister emphasized that modern technology would play a crucial role in upgrading the healthcare system. The integration of advanced and artificial intelligence-based tools is expected to improve diagnosis, monitoring, and service delivery. Authorities believe this move will enhance efficiency and ensure better patient outcomes across the state.

Monitoring and Policy Measures Planned

To maintain quality standards, the government is preparing to establish a dedicated monitoring unit. This body will oversee the functioning of healthcare facilities and ensure that services meet required benchmarks. In addition, a new policy is under consideration to improve the availability and distribution of blood supplies, addressing a critical need in emergency care situations.

Officials say these combined efforts are part of a broader strategy to modernize Jharkhand’s healthcare network while ensuring equitable access for all communities.

Political Tensions Over Language Policy

Meanwhile, political activity has intensified in the state over a language-related issue. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing has announced plans to launch a large-scale protest campaign in response to recent decisions concerning language recognition in certain districts.

The controversy stems from the designation of Nagpuri and Kudukh as local languages for the Jharkhand Eligibility Test in districts such as Palamu, Garhwa, and Latehar. Critics argue that this move overlooks other widely spoken languages in the region, including Bhojpuri and Angika.

BJP leaders have described the decision as unfair to the Palamu region and have called for corrective action. The party’s youth wing is set to begin its agitation in Palamu, with participation expected from a significant number of young supporters. Following the initial demonstration, the protest is likely to expand to other parts of the state and eventually reach Ranchi.

Legal Action Against Advocate

In a separate development, the Jharkhand State Bar Council has taken disciplinary action against Advocate Mahesh Tiwari, prohibiting him from practicing law for two years. This decision follows a conviction order issued by a Ranchi court on March 31, which sentenced him to two years in prison.

The case dates back to an incident on May 1, 2012, involving an alleged altercation outside Court No. 5 of the Jharkhand High Court. According to the prosecution, Tiwari confronted a woman advocate, made inappropriate remarks related to her election victory in the Bar Council, and physically assaulted her.

The Bar Council stated that the suspension would remain in effect from the date of conviction. The advocate had also recently drawn attention due to controversial remarks directed at a High Court judge, further highlighting concerns about professional conduct within the legal community.

These developments reflect a mix of policy initiatives and political tensions currently shaping Jharkhand’s administrative and social landscape
