Government : Prioritises Youth Skills and Jobs Through Rozgar Mela Initiative
Government: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated that empowering young people with skills and meaningful employment opportunities remains one of the central priorities of the current government. Addressing newly appointed candidates during a nationwide Rozgar Mela programme, he highlighted how focused recruitment and skill development are shaping the future workforce of the country.

Rozgar Mela as a Mission-Mode Recruitment Drive
Speaking virtually to new recruits across 45 locations, the Prime Minister explained that the Rozgar Mela was launched to transform government hiring into a mission-driven process. Over time, it has grown into a structured and reliable platform for public sector recruitment. Through this initiative, a large number of young candidates have received appointment letters across multiple government departments, helping reduce delays and bring transparency into the recruitment process.
He underlined that such initiatives not only provide jobs but also build confidence among young citizens by ensuring fair and timely employment opportunities.
Expanding Global Opportunities for Indian Youth
The Prime Minister pointed out that the government is actively entering into trade and mobility agreements with several countries. These agreements are opening up new employment pathways for Indian youth beyond domestic markets. According to him, growing international partnerships are creating demand for skilled Indian professionals in diverse sectors, ranging from technology to services.
He also noted that rising global trust in India’s economic and policy framework is helping the country emerge as a preferred destination for investment, which directly contributes to job creation.
Infrastructure Growth and Employment Generation
Highlighting large-scale infrastructure development, the Prime Minister said India has made unprecedented investments in modern infrastructure over the past decade. These investments have led to significant employment generation, particularly in construction and allied industries. From highways and railways to ports and urban development projects, infrastructure expansion is providing both direct and indirect jobs to millions of people.
Such projects, he added, are not just about physical assets but also about building long-term economic capacity and livelihoods.
Startup Ecosystem and New-Age Sectors
India’s startup ecosystem was another major focus of the address. The Prime Minister stated that the country now has nearly two lakh registered startups, collectively employing more than 21 lakh young people. This rapid growth reflects a shift towards innovation-driven employment and entrepreneurship.
He further mentioned that India is emerging as a global hub for animation, digital media, and other creative and technology-driven sectors. These industries are offering new career options that were relatively limited in the past, especially for young professionals with specialized skills.
Appointment Letters and Nation-Building
During the event, appointment letters were virtually distributed to around 61,000 new recruits, with women forming a significant majority. The Prime Minister described these appointment letters not merely as job offers but as an invitation to actively participate in nation-building.
He said the newly recruited youth would play an important role in strengthening national security, improving education and healthcare systems, reinforcing financial services, and supporting energy security. Their contributions would also be crucial for the growth and efficiency of public sector enterprises.
India’s Economic Growth and Investment Confidence
Referring to India’s performance in global markets, the Prime Minister highlighted that the country is among the few major economies to have doubled its GDP within a decade. He added that over 100 countries are currently investing in India through foreign direct investment, reflecting strong international confidence.
He shared that electronics manufacturing has grown multiple times since 2014, crossing major revenue milestones, while electronics exports have also seen substantial growth. Additionally, the automobile sector continues to expand rapidly, with two-wheeler sales crossing significant annual figures, making it one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.
A Forward-Looking Vision for Youth Employment
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that the combination of skill development, global engagement, infrastructure growth, and innovation is creating a strong foundation for sustainable youth employment. He expressed confidence that young professionals joining government services today would play a defining role in shaping a developed and self-reliant India.
