Goa Club Fire: According to authorities, the owner brothers used a fake land agreement to get permission to construct the nightclub, which is the most recent development in the Goa fire that claimed 25 lives and led to a worldwide hunt for the owners.
The Delhi-based businessmen Suarav and Gaurav Luthra submitted a fake copy of the land agreement to obtain permission to open their club in Arpora, Goa, according to the police statement released on Friday. They will be questioned once the Goa police take them into custody early next week.
The owner brothers flew to Phuket, Thailand, only hours after the Birch By Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa’s Arpora neighborhood was destroyed by a fatal fire. Following proper procedure on the Indian side, the Luthra brothers were brought into custody by Thai local police. The accused brothers will soon be transported to India, the Goan chief minister said on Thursday.
What took place at the nightclub in Goa
Up to 25 people perished in a devastating fire that destroyed the nightclub in Arpora, Goa, including four members of a Delhi family. The fire that broke out last Saturday at about 11:45 p.m. wounded six more people.
The authorities believe that the fatal fire was caused by electrically detonated pyroguns that were fired during a dancing event. A thatched roof, piles of alcohol, pyroguns, and an insufficient number of exits were among the major safety violations that worked as catalysts and exacerbated the fire. About 300 square meters of the club were destroyed by the fire.
Twenty club employees and five vacationers were among the 25 people killed in the incident.
According to the authorities, the Luthra brothers fled the country at 5:30 am on Sunday by flying from Delhi to Phuket as the fog surrounding the actual situation was lifting and people were dying.
Police Await Luthra Brothers’ Custody
“Our preliminary investigations have shown that when the nightclub owners applied for authorization, they produced a false agreement to assert their ownership of the property. A police officer involved in the probe was mentioned by the Hindustan Times under the condition of anonymity since the person is not permitted to make remarks to the media. “We are cross-checking the documents as part of the ongoing investigation.”
“Deportation procedures of Luthra brothers are currently under process and Goa Police is in continuous coordination with the central agencies,” the police stated on Friday, indicating that they anticipate the Luthra brothers’ arrest early next week.
Goa Nightclub Fire: Murder Charges Against Owner Brothers
Along with other unidentified people, the brothers were charged by Goa Police in the Sunday morning FIR with culpable homicide not amounting to murder (section 105), acts that endangered the lives and personal safety of others (section 125 (a) (b)), and negligent conduct involving fire or combustible matter (section 287) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
