Police officials said the episode unfolded within the jurisdiction of Raoji Bazaar police station. Initial findings suggest that the cylinder was being cut open by a scrap trader when gas began escaping into the surrounding area. Within minutes, residents and shopkeepers nearby complained of breathlessness and discomfort, prompting calls for emergency assistance.
Law enforcement personnel and emergency services reached the spot soon after receiving alerts from local residents. The affected individuals were quickly moved away from the site and transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Disesh Aggarwal confirmed that five people were taken to different hospitals as a precautionary measure. He said the situation was brought under control shortly after the leak was reported.
Officials secured the area to prevent further exposure and ensured that the cylinder was handled safely. The exact composition of the gas contained in the cylinder has not yet been determined, and authorities are awaiting further technical examination.
