The crash occurred in the Paparda area during the early hours of the morning. The impact was severe, leaving the car lodged under the rear of the truck. Officials said the vehicle was dragged for several kilometres before the truck came to a halt, causing extensive damage and leaving little chance for the occupants to escape.

Details of the Accident

Police said five people were travelling in the car at the time of the incident. The group was returning to Noida after completing a pilgrimage to the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The vehicle, which carried a Haryana registration number, was moving towards Delhi via Lalsot when the collision occurred.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Meena explained that the car was travelling at a high speed when it struck the truck from the rear. The force of the impact caused the smaller vehicle to slide underneath the truck, where it became trapped. Due to the momentum, the truck continued moving, dragging the car along the expressway for several kilometres.

Victims Identified

Four passengers died at the scene. Police identified them as Rahul Gupta, 35, Paras Agrawal, 35, Prince Gupta, 23, and Vikram Singh, 30. All four were seated in positions that bore the brunt of the collision, officials said.

The fifth passenger, Brijmohan Gupta, who was seated in the rear of the car, survived the crash with minor injuries. He was immediately taken to the Dausa district hospital, where he received medical treatment. Hospital authorities described his condition as stable.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

Local police and emergency services reached the spot soon after receiving information about the crash. Traffic on the expressway was temporarily affected as rescue teams worked to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the road.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to a nearby mortuary for post-mortem examinations, as part of standard legal procedures. Police said the families of the victims were informed, and further steps would be taken following the completion of formalities.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. While preliminary findings point to overspeeding as a major factor, officials said they are also examining other aspects, including visibility conditions, driver fatigue, and whether traffic rules were being followed by both vehicles.

Police are expected to question the truck driver and review any available CCTV footage from the expressway to reconstruct the sequence of events. Mechanical inspections of both vehicles may also be conducted to rule out technical failures.

Road Safety Concerns on High-Speed Corridors

The incident has once again drawn attention to safety challenges on high-speed expressways. Law enforcement officials have repeatedly urged drivers to maintain safe distances, adhere to speed limits, and remain alert, especially during night and early morning hours when fatigue can impair reaction time.

Officials emphasized that rear-end collisions on highways often result in serious consequences due to high speeds and reduced stopping distances. They said strict enforcement of traffic regulations and responsible driving are essential to prevent such tragedies.

Community Reaction

The deaths have cast a shadow over the local community and among fellow devotees, as the victims were returning from a religious visit. Residents and commuters expressed concern over frequent accidents on long-distance corridors and called for increased awareness and enforcement to improve road safety.

Police said further updates would be shared once the investigation progresses and post-mortem reports are completed.
