As decreased visibility impacts aircraft operations, Indian aviation behemoths Air India and IndiGo have sent out passenger warnings alerting travelers to fog-related disruptions, including delays and cancellations. As service gradually resumed, the airlines asked their customers to be calm and patient.

Air India said in its alert, which was released late Friday, that it was making every effort to minimize inconveniences caused by fog and that it understood customers’ travel schedules, especially during the holiday season. The airline has pledged to strive continuously to lessen the effects and annoyance caused by disruptions caused by fog.

The airline issued a warning to its passengers about potential delays, citing the weather department’s forecast. It stated that dense fog conditions in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India are likely to affect flight operations at Delhi, Amritsar (ATQ), Chandigarh (IXC), Lucknow (LKO), Varanasi (VNS), and Patna (PAT), with a ripple effect across the network.

Passengers on Certain Flights Will Receive a Complete Refund; Other Flights

Additionally, the caution said that under the “FogCare initiative,” travelers who booked on certain flights within the fog window would still get advance notifications. These travelers will have the option to request a complete refund without incurring any fees or to switch flights without incurring any extra costs.

Additionally, the airline advised travelers to check the status of their flights before departing for the airport.

Operations at IndiGo Are Affected by Heavy Fog
The massive domestic airline IndiGo notified its customers that flights to and from Chandigarh and Amritsar were experiencing operational interruptions as a result of the drastically decreased visibility. Before heading to the airport, travelers were advised by the airline to check the most recent flight status on its website or app.

Delhi Airport Issues a Warning
The airport said in a Saturday morning statement that although poor visibility precautions are still in place, all aircraft operations are running well.

“At Delhi Airport, Low Visibility Procedures are still being used. Every aspect of flight operations is running well. For the most recent flight information, passengers are encouraged to get in touch with their individual carriers, the statement said.
