Festival – Devotees Gather Nationwide to Mark Navratri’s Seventh Day

Festival –  A wave of devotion swept across India on Wednesday as thousands of worshippers visited temples to observe the seventh day of Chaitra Navratri, dedicated to Maa Kaalratri, one of the most powerful manifestations of Goddess Durga. From northern pilgrimage sites to central and eastern regions, temples reported significant footfall as devotees offered prayers and participated in rituals with deep faith.

Pilgrims Begin Sacred Journey in Jammu and Kashmir

In Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, a steady stream of pilgrims was seen at the Darshani Deori, the starting point for the trek to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Devotees expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place to manage the large crowds.

Many visitors noted the improved facilities and smooth organization. A long-time pilgrim shared that he has been visiting the shrine for over two decades and found the current arrangements well-managed and convenient for travelers.

Early Morning Rush at Delhi Temple

In the national capital, large numbers of devotees gathered at the Jhandewalan Temple from early morning hours. The atmosphere was filled with chants and devotional songs as worshippers lined up for darshan.

Temple priest Ambika Prasad Pant explained the significance of the day, stating that the seventh day of Navratri is devoted to Maa Kaalratri. According to him, devotees perform special prayers and rituals seeking protection and strength from the goddess.

Historic Temple in Uttar Pradesh Draws Crowds

A similar scene unfolded in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, where devotees visited the ancient Chamunda Devi Temple in large numbers. The temple holds deep historical and spiritual importance in the region.

Mahant Murli Singh highlighted that the deity worshipped here has been revered for generations and is believed to have been the family deity of the legendary king Prithviraj Chauhan. Devotees offered prayers with strong faith, seeking blessings for courage and well-being.

Special Rituals Held Across Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, temples were decorated elaborately for the occasion of Saptami. Idols of the goddess were adorned with intricate ornaments and traditional decorations, creating a vibrant and spiritual atmosphere.

Religious ceremonies were conducted under the guidance of chief priest Pawan Dau Ji Maharaj, with a large number of devotees participating in the rituals. Offerings, prayers, and devotional activities continued throughout the day.

Morning Rituals at Mahakaleshwar Temple

At the Mahakaleshwar Temple, the day began with the customary Bhasma Aarti, one of the most significant rituals at the shrine. This was followed by Panchamrit Abhishek, along with ceremonial decorations and floral offerings.

Devotees gathered in the early hours to witness the rituals, which hold deep religious importance and are considered highly auspicious during Navratri.

Significance of Maa Kaalratri Worship

The seventh day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Maa Kaalratri, known as the fierce and protective form of Goddess Durga. She is believed to eliminate darkness, negativity, and fear, symbolizing strength and courage.

Devotees worship her with the belief that she removes obstacles and protects her followers from harm. On this day, offerings such as jaggery and sweets are commonly made, while many devotees choose to wear colors like royal blue or orange as part of the tradition.

Across the country, the spirit of devotion remained strong as people continued to celebrate Navratri with prayers, rituals, and unwavering faith, reflecting the cultural and spiritual richness of the festival.
