Supplementary List Released After Adjudication Process

According to officials, the revised voter lists for individual polling booths were uploaded on the Election Commission’s official website at around 11:55 pm. These lists include names that have undergone verification through a formal adjudication process conducted over the past few weeks.

Earlier, approximately 60 lakh voter entries were flagged as “under adjudication” in the final electoral roll released on February 28. These cases required detailed examination to determine whether the individuals should remain on the voter list or be removed.

Judicial Officers Assigned for Verification

To ensure a fair and systematic review, the Election Commission had appointed 705 judicial officers. Their responsibility was to assess each disputed entry based on available documentation and legal standards. This large-scale exercise aimed to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the electoral roll.

Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal stated that around 29 lakh names have already been reviewed through this process. However, detailed figures regarding how many entries were retained or removed in this first supplementary list have not yet been disclosed.

Accessibility Issues Reported by Users

While the updated lists were officially released online, some users reported difficulty in downloading the documents shortly after publication. Authorities have not commented on the cause of these technical issues, but it is expected that access will stabilize as traffic on the platform normalizes.

Officials emphasized that the supplementary lists will also be accessible through multiple platforms. These include the websites of the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission, as well as the ECI Net mobile application, ensuring wider public access.

More Updates Expected as Process Continues

The adjudication process is still ongoing, and additional supplementary lists are expected to be released in the coming days. Authorities confirmed that updates will continue in phases until all pending cases are resolved.

This phased approach allows election officials to gradually refine the voter database while maintaining transparency. It also provides voters with an opportunity to verify their status ahead of polling.

Security Measures Strengthened Across the State

In light of the release of the revised voter data, security has been increased across West Bengal. Officials have taken precautionary steps to prevent any disturbances and to ensure that the election process proceeds smoothly.

Law enforcement agencies have been placed on alert, particularly in sensitive areas, to manage any potential law-and-order concerns that may arise following the publication of the updated lists.

Poll Dates Announced for State Assembly Elections

West Bengal is set to vote in two phases for its 294-member legislative assembly. Polling will take place on April 23 and April 29, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

The release of the supplementary voter list is considered a crucial milestone in the election timeline, as it helps finalize the pool of eligible voters. With further updates expected, authorities continue to focus on ensuring a transparent and accurate electoral process.
