Education – IP University Convocation Highlights Role of Youth in Nation Building

Education –  The 18th convocation ceremony of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was held on Thursday, bringing together academic leaders, students, and families to celebrate the achievements of graduating scholars. Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta jointly presided over the event, awarding degrees to students across various disciplines in a formal and celebratory atmosphere.

Convocation Seen as Beginning of New Responsibilities

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor described convocation not as a conclusion but as the start of a broader journey. He emphasized that graduates are stepping into a rapidly evolving world shaped by technological progress, particularly artificial intelligence and sustainable development practices. He encouraged students to move beyond classroom learning and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges that contribute to national growth.

He further highlighted that the future demands individuals who can adapt to change, think critically, and innovate continuously. According to him, the role of education today is not limited to imparting knowledge but also to preparing individuals for complex problem-solving in diverse sectors.

Chief Minister Highlights Youth Contribution to National Growth

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised the graduates for their perseverance and commitment, noting that the ceremony represents years of consistent effort and dedication. She described young graduates as central to the vision of a developed India, stating that their skills and ideas will play a key role in shaping the country’s progress.

In her address, she urged students to use their education responsibly and contribute meaningfully to society. She stressed that academic success carries a larger responsibility, encouraging graduates to work towards collective welfare and national development.

Focus on Emerging Technologies and Innovation

The Chief Minister also drew attention to the university’s contributions in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and data science. She noted that the institution has been actively supporting innovation through its Atal Incubation Centre, which has helped nurture more than 170 startups so far.

This emphasis on innovation reflects a broader shift in higher education, where universities are increasingly focusing on research, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions. The initiatives undertaken by the university demonstrate its commitment to preparing students for emerging industries and future job markets.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures from the academic community. Among them were Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Mahesh Verma and University of Delhi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh.
