Major Raid in Mehrauli Leads to Arrest

The operation was carried out on March 30 in Islam Colony, Mehrauli, following intelligence inputs about drug distribution activities in the region. Police teams conducted a targeted raid at a residential premises, where the accused, identified as John Chibuike, was taken into custody. Officials stated that he had been actively involved in supplying cocaine across several parts of South and South-East Delhi.

Investigators also revealed that the accused had previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2022, indicating a continued involvement in illegal drug trade despite earlier action.

Police Leadership and Investigation Details

According to senior officers, the raid was executed by a team led by Inspector Anuj Kumar under the supervision of ACP Abhinendra Jain. The operation was part of a broader strategy to disrupt organized drug networks operating in the capital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) Anant Mittal described the seizure as a significant setback for drug traffickers. A fresh case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Mehrauli police station. Authorities are now working to trace the accused’s associates and identify the larger supply chain linked to this network.

Mittal further noted that the action aligns with ongoing enforcement efforts under Operation Kavach 13.0, which focuses on curbing narcotics circulation in Delhi.

Separate Action in Paharganj Targets Local Network

In a separate development earlier in March, Delhi Police also cracked down on a street-level drug racket in the Chuna Mandi area of Paharganj. Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested during the operation.

Police teams from the local station acted on specific information received during routine patrols on March 23. A surveillance operation was set up in the area, leading to the interception of two suspects whose behavior raised suspicion.

Following standard legal procedures, officers conducted a search in the presence of women police personnel. This resulted in the recovery of 34.17 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as smack, which had been divided into 210 small plastic packets. Authorities also seized ₹6,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Interrogation Reveals Wider Links

During questioning, the arrested individuals admitted to involvement in small-scale drug distribution in the locality. Their statements led police to identify additional members of the network. Acting on this information, two more suspects were apprehended, including the husband of the woman already in custody.

Officials indicated that the case highlights the presence of interconnected supply chains, ranging from street-level peddlers to larger distributors. The seized narcotics and cash were documented and sealed on the spot, and all procedural requirements were completed before the arrests were formalized.

An FIR was registered on March 23 under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Paharganj police station.

Continued Crackdown on Narcotics

Delhi Police officials emphasized that these operations reflect a sustained effort to tackle drug-related crimes at multiple levels. From high-value international supply chains to local distribution networks, enforcement agencies are focusing on both ends of the spectrum to disrupt the flow of illegal substances.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance, strengthening intelligence gathering, and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in narcotics trade. Further investigations in both cases are ongoing, with efforts underway to uncover additional links and prevent future trafficking activities.
