Once again, the worsening circumstances caused health issues for locals and interfered with everyday life in the city.

At around 7.05 a.m., Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 366, based on data from the Sameer app. The Narela monitoring station recorded the worst air quality on Monday, with an AQI of 418—the worst in the city to date. The AQI values in a number of other locations, including Anand Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Rohini, and Wazirpur, ranged from 401 to 408.

Not even the cleanest areas of the city provided relief. Out of the 40 monitoring sites, Dilshad Garden had the lowest AQI (301), which is nevertheless considered “very poor.”

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies AQI values between 301 and 400 as “very poor,” and readings between 401 and 500 as “severe.” Respiratory discomfort may result from such pollution levels, especially in youngsters, the elderly, and those with underlying medical issues.

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport issued a traveler alert as a result of the heavy smog’s impact on visibility around the nation’s capital. At 7 a.m., airport officials posted on the social media site X that although aircraft operations were proceeding as usual, low-visibility measures were in place. Due to weather-related delays, passengers were encouraged to check with their individual airlines for the most recent information.

In the meanwhile, moderate fog is predicted for the day by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhi is predicted to have a high temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius and a low temperature of about 9 degrees.

A low temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city on Sunday, 1.3 degrees higher than the seasonal normal. The national capital’s already chilly and dirty circumstances were exacerbated by the highest temperature, which reached 18.1 degrees Celsius.
