Dainik Jagran Abhimat: Young people from the Delhi-NCR area participated in a session hosted by Dainik Jagran Abhimat where they discussed their thoughts on the expanding impact of OTT platforms in India. The teens thought that this creative freedom should be used with cultural responsibility, even while they noted that OTT platforms had expanded options for content production, helped indie filmmakers, and opened doors for new talent.

According to a Delhi University student, OTT platforms assist in lowering the obstacles often connected with conventional media. Other participants had similar opinions, seeing OTT as a blessing for independent writers, performers, and directors who often struggle to find chances in the conventional film and television sectors.

“OTT has given us a platform for voices that have never been heard before,” Delhi University remarked during the ceremony. Real, authentic, and relevant stories

The organization did, however, also voice concerns about the increasing prevalence of obscene material, foul language, and offensive expressions on a number of OTT platforms. An attendee said, “Bold storytelling is welcome, but there is a thin line between creativity and recklessness.”

They also brought up highly praised television programs like Mirzapur and Sacred Games, which have generated controversy because to their graphic and profane nature. A student said that the trend has caused a disconnect between young viewers and conventional cultural standards, stating that “teenagers are picking up phrases and expressions from these shows, which is affecting their behavior and the way they interact with friends and family.”

While OTT platforms are effective vehicles for creative expression, young attendees at the Dainik Jagran event agreed that they need to handle material more responsibly. In order to guarantee that material does not undermine society values or adversely affect young viewers, the panel emphasized the need of some kind of control.

The request to match material with cultural standards that appeal to the public, especially young people, without restricting originality was made at the end of the session. Everyone agreed that OTT platforms could keep innovating and engaging consumers while upholding limits and encouraging ethical storytelling.
