Crime – Woman Arrested After Brutal Assault in North Delhi
Crime – A 22-year-old man was left critically injured after an alleged assault by a woman in the Wazirabad area of north Delhi, police said on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred after the woman learned that the man was already married.
Incident Reported From Hospital
Police officials stated that they were alerted on Wednesday by Hindu Rao Hospital about the admission of a young man with serious injuries. A team was immediately dispatched to the hospital to assess the situation and record the victim’s statement.
The injured man, identified as Visarjeet from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, informed investigators that he had arrived in Delhi on February 24. He had been staying with the woman, Amina, whom he had known for nearly two years.
Allegations of Intoxication and Assault
According to the statement provided to police, the incident took place late at night. Visarjeet alleged that the woman offered him milk that had been laced with an intoxicating substance. He claimed that around 2:30 a.m., while he was in a semi-conscious state, she attacked him with a sharp object, causing severe injuries to his private parts.
Preliminary findings suggest that the woman became aware of his marital status shortly before the alleged attack and believed he had misled her about being unmarried.
Medical Treatment and Condition
Despite his condition, the victim managed to reach Hindu Rao Hospital on his own. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital for specialized care. There, he underwent surgery. Medical authorities have not released further details about his recovery but confirmed that the injuries were serious.
Legal Action and Investigation
Based on the victim’s statement and supporting medical evidence, police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons and administering a harmful substance with intent to commit an offence.
Officers said efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the accused woman. She is originally from Katihar district in Bihar and had been residing in Wazirabad at the time of the incident.
Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including the circumstances leading up to the alleged assault. Authorities have indicated that further legal action will follow based on evidence collected during the probe.
The case has drawn attention due to the severity of the injuries and the nature of the allegations. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigation to proceed.
