Crime – Mystery Deepens After Teen Girl Found Dead in Village Home

Crime –  The death of a 17-year-old student in a village under Balikuda police jurisdiction has raised serious questions after her body was discovered hanging inside her home on Wednesday night. While early accounts from villagers suggested that the girl might have taken her own life due to family opposition to a personal relationship, her father has strongly disputed that claim, alleging that his daughter was murdered.

Teen girl death village mystery

Body discovered inside Mangapur residence

According to local sources, the teenager was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside her house in Mangapur village. The incident reportedly occurred late on Wednesday evening when her uncle and aunt, with whom she had been living, returned home after being away for some time.

Police said the girl was a Plus II student at Balikuda Women’s College and had been residing with her relatives in Mangapur for several years. After discovering the body, the family informed authorities and local residents gathered near the house soon afterward.

The police were alerted about the situation and officers arrived at the scene to begin preliminary inquiries.

Family background and upbringing

Investigators revealed that the girl originally belonged to Tigiria village in Kendrapara district. Her life had been marked by early family changes after her mother died when she was just four years old.

Following the tragedy, her father remarried. Later, her paternal uncle Biswajit Mallick, who lives in Mangapur village, took responsibility for raising her. Since then, she had been staying with him and attending school and college from that location.

Residents of the village said the uncle had supported her education and upbringing over the years.

Relationship reportedly caused tension in family

Several villagers told police that the teenager had developed a close relationship with a young man from the area. According to locals, the situation had reportedly created disagreements within the household where she lived.

Family members were believed to have opposed the relationship, which allegedly led to arguments and tension in recent weeks. Some residents speculated that emotional stress linked to this conflict could have influenced the circumstances surrounding her death.

However, these claims have not been officially confirmed by investigators.

Father alleges murder and harassment

The case took a different turn after the girl’s father, Subash Mallick, arrived in Mangapur following the incident. He accused his brother Biswajit Mallick, the latter’s wife, and another individual from the village of being responsible for his daughter’s death.

In his complaint to the police, Subash alleged that his daughter had been repeatedly humiliated and harassed because of the relationship she was involved in. He further claimed that she was killed and that her body was later hung from the ceiling fan to make the death appear as a suicide.

The father urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take action against those he believes are involved.

Police register case and begin investigation

Balikuda police have registered a case based on the complaint and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

Balikuda police station in-charge Susanta Sahoo confirmed that a case has been filed under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials said statements are being collected from family members, neighbors, and other individuals who may have relevant information.

Police also indicated that further evidence, including forensic examination and postmortem findings, will play an important role in determining whether the death was a suicide or the result of foul play.

Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and the exact cause of the girl’s death will be established after a detailed inquiry.
