Gupta told reporters that Delhi’s citizens will have far better access to healthcare with the opening of these new facilities.

Today on Makar Sankranti, we opened 81 new Arogya Mandirs. There were 238 Arogya Mandirs operating prior to this. We are giving the people of Delhi more pleasant and easily accessible healthcare services with these enhancements,” she said.

Ayushman Arogya Mandirs serve as primary healthcare facilities and are essential to bolstering the city’s health infrastructure, according to the Chief Minister.

These facilities function similarly to primary care hospitals. They will lessen the strain on large hospitals and assist in resolving important health concerns that the citizens of the nation’s capital confront. Essential medical facilities will be accessible to citizens nearer to their homes,” she said.

Gupta said that the Delhi government is aggressively striving to meet its ambitious aim of opening 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs around the city in the next months.

“Today, the way these Arogya Mandirs are being constructed is remarkable, and 81 Arogya Mandirs will be dedicated to Delhi,” said BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay. In our Bhim Nagar and Malviya Nagar constituency, this is the eighth Arogya Mandir; two more are yet to be constructed.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said on Tuesday that the program would greatly improve citizens’ access to preventative healthcare treatments.

He said, “With this expansion, the total number of centers in the national capital will increase to 319.”As intended by the national capital’s long-term primary healthcare road plan, Delhi is making steady progress with this addition toward the construction of more than 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs,” he added. There are now 238 active Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. The total number of operational centers in Delhi will increase to 319 after tomorrow’s inauguration,” Minister Singh said. The Delhi government’s goal of providing free, easily accessible, and respectable primary healthcare near every home is made possible in large part by these centers. Under the direction of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the program is being carried out in accordance with the national goal of “Healthcare for All,” the Minister said.

Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir, he continued, will provide free medical consultations, necessary medications, and diagnostic tests in addition to screening for diabetes, hypertension, cancer, maternity and child healthcare, immunization support, growth monitoring, lifestyle counseling, mental health services, and preventive health programs like yoga and dietary advice.By providing prompt treatment for women, the elderly, and low-income families without requiring lengthy travel or standing in line, these neighborhood-level institutions would greatly lessen the strain on larger hospitals.”Delhi keeps expanding coverage under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat-Vaya Vandana Yojana (AB-VVY) in tandem with the growth of Arogya Mandirs. According to Minister Singh, as of January 13, 2026, Delhi has issued 6,91,530 health cards (combined PM-JAY + VVY), 2,65,895 of which were VVY cards.

According to the Health Minister, Delhi now has 189 empanelled institutions, including 138 private hospitals, 41 Delhi government hospitals, and 10 Central government hospitals, to provide easy access to secondary and tertiary care.Financially disadvantaged families may obtain life-saving care without facing financial obstacles because to these affiliated institutions’ cashless treatment, he said.
