BombThreat – Delhi Secretariat, Red Fort Among Sites Targeted by Hoax Emails

BombThreat – Multiple high-profile locations across the national capital were thrown into emergency mode on Monday after authorities received a series of bomb threat emails targeting key government buildings, heritage sites, and educational institutions. After extensive searches, officials confirmed that the threats were false, but not before security agencies carried out precautionary evacuations and sweeping checks.

Delhi bomb threat hoax alert

Threat Emails Sent to Government Offices and Schools

According to senior officials, the emails were sent to the Delhi Secretariat, the Delhi Assembly, the historic Red Fort, Delhi Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, and Air Force Bal Bharti School in the Lodhi Road area. The messages also reached Delhi Assembly Speaker and former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dilip Pandey.

Pandey stated on social media that he had received a threatening message on his personal email account and immediately forwarded it to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Delhi Police for further action, citing concerns about public safety.

Authorities said the emails claimed to be from a group identifying itself as the Khalistan National Army.

Specific Timings Mentioned in the Threat

Officials revealed that the emails included precise timings for the alleged explosions. The message warned of a blast at the Delhi Army School campus at 1:11 pm, at the Delhi Assembly around 3:11 pm, and at the Red Fort at 9:11 am.

Following the alerts, police teams and emergency services rushed to the locations. The affected premises were evacuated as a precaution, and bomb disposal squads carried out detailed inspections. However, no suspicious objects were found at any of the sites.

Police officials confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the origin of the emails. Technical teams are working to identify the IP address used to send the threats.

Security Tightened Across the Capital

In response to the scare, security measures were intensified throughout the city. Surveillance was stepped up at metro stations, government offices, and other prominent public areas. Bomb disposal units, dog squads, and quick reaction teams were deployed at sensitive points.

CCTV footage from areas surrounding the targeted locations is being continuously monitored. Delhi Police is coordinating closely with central security agencies to assess any potential risk and prevent disruption.

Officials emphasized that while the threats were ultimately declared a hoax, such incidents are treated with utmost seriousness due to the potential risk to public safety.

Recent Intelligence Inputs Add to Concerns

The latest incident comes at a time when the national capital remains on heightened alert. Just days earlier, security agencies had issued warnings about possible improvised explosive device attacks following intelligence inputs. Reports suggested that the Lashkar-e-Taiba could be planning retaliatory actions in major cities, including Delhi, after a recent blast at a mosque in Islamabad on February 6.

Investigators are examining whether the recent email threats are linked to those broader intelligence concerns or if they represent an isolated attempt to create panic.

Earlier this month, at least 15 schools and even Parliament had received similar bomb threat emails, all of which later turned out to be false alarms. Authorities believe that repeated hoax threats strain security resources and create unnecessary fear among citizens.

Investigation Continues

Delhi Police has reiterated its commitment to identifying those responsible for issuing the latest threats. Cyber experts are assisting in the probe, and officials have indicated that strict action will be taken once the culprits are traced.

Meanwhile, normal operations have resumed at all the affected locations. Schools reopened after security clearance, and government offices returned to routine functioning.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. They stressed that coordinated security mechanisms are in place to respond swiftly to any emergency situation.
