Bomb Threat – Security Sweep Conducted at Two Private Schools
Bomb Threat – Two private educational institutions in the city were placed under heightened security on Friday after authorities received emails warning of a possible bomb threat.

Police officials confirmed that the messages were sent to the administrations of the two private schools earlier in the day, triggering immediate precautionary measures. Emergency response teams were dispatched to both campuses to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff.
Emergency Teams Deployed Swiftly
Soon after the alerts were reported, local police activated standard operating procedures. Fire brigade personnel, bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog units were rushed to the locations. Ambulances were also stationed outside the premises as a preventive measure.
Officials said the schools were thoroughly inspected, including classrooms, administrative blocks, playground areas and parking spaces. Security was tightened around the campuses while checks were underway. Authorities worked closely with school management to ensure that students remained calm and safe during the process.
Parents were informed about the situation through official communication channels, and many gathered near the school gates as the security operation unfolded. Police personnel were seen regulating movement in and around the area to avoid panic.
Threats Mirror Recent Incidents in the Region
The latest emails follow a pattern of similar bomb threat messages reported across parts of Punjab and neighboring regions in recent weeks. Educational institutions in cities such as Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala, as well as schools in Haryana, have received similar threatening emails.
In each of those cases, security agencies conducted detailed inspections but did not recover any suspicious objects or explosive materials. Authorities later confirmed that the earlier threats were hoaxes. Despite this, officials are treating every new message with seriousness, given the potential risk involved.
Police sources indicated that cyber units are examining the origin of the emails to determine whether the incidents are linked. Investigators are tracking digital footprints and coordinating with central agencies to identify those responsible for sending the threats.
Recent Threat at Civil Secretariat
The current incident also comes shortly after a bomb threat email was sent to the Punjab Civil Secretariat. Security forces carried out extensive checks at the government complex, but no explosives or hazardous items were found during the search operation.
Officials said that while these threats have so far proven to be false alarms, they are not taking any chances. “Public safety remains our top priority. Every alert is treated as genuine until proven otherwise,” a senior officer stated.
Focus on Safety and Vigilance
Authorities have urged school administrations to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious communication. Cybercrime teams are continuing their probe to trace the source of the emails and assess whether they are part of a coordinated attempt to disrupt normal activities.
Education department officials also emphasized the importance of maintaining calm among students and parents. Counseling support is being made available in some institutions to ease anxiety caused by repeated threat messages.
As investigations continue, security arrangements at sensitive public places and educational institutions are being reviewed. Police have reassured residents that robust measures are in place to respond to any emergency and that there is no immediate cause for alarm.
