Bengaluru: To ease traffic in Yelahanka and Jakkur, a new Hebbal flyover ramp to Tumakuru Road opens for testing
Bengaluru: On Saturday, December 20, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) opened a second ramp on the Hebbal flyover for trial traffic, providing much-needed respite to commuters in North Bengaluru.

According to News18, this new segment is anticipated to reduce traffic at one of the busiest crossings in the city by effectively shifting heavy traffic from Yelahanka, the Outer Ring Road, and the airport corridor.
Hebbal Flyover Ramp: Construction in Two Phases
There are two stages to the construction of the new ramp on the Hebbal flyover. Traffic congestion at one of the city’s busiest crossroads was decreased by 25 to 30 percent when the first phase, a one-kilometer length that connected the Baptist Hospital side to the KR Puram loop, opened on August 18.
According to News18, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) finished the second phase of the Hebbal flyover and opened a new 220-meter ramp for test traffic on Saturday night. Traffic from northern suburbs like Yelahanka may go into Mekhri Circle with fewer merging points thanks to this section, which is supported by 33 piers and links the Tumakuru Road circle to the main ramp.
A safety barrier still has to be put in place to keep traffic going toward Kempegowda International Airport apart from the new ramp, even though it was opened for trial traffic. The goal of this operation, which should be finished in three days, is to enhance traffic flow at the intersection.
The Hebbal Flyover Ramp Will Help These Areas
Commuters from Yelahanka, Jakkur, Sanjaynagar, and Kempapura are anticipated to gain the most from the revised route, even if the extra ramp is intended to lessen overall traffic. Drivers will have a straight path to avoid some of the busiest intersections, making the journey to Mekhri Circle easier in the morning and evening.
According to traffic experts, the extra ramp might greatly improve traffic on the Hebbal flyover, but they also caution that it would put more strain on other intersections like the Mekhri Circle.
