Bengaluru Power Shutdown Alert: The Bangalore Electricity Distribution Company has announced a planned power shutdown across several parts of Bengaluru on Monday, December 29. This interruption in electricity supply is part of routine maintenance work aimed at improving network reliability and infrastructure safety. According to officials, power supply in the affected areas will remain suspended until 5:00 PM. Residents have been advised to plan their day accordingly and cooperate with the maintenance teams to minimize inconvenience.

Reason Behind the Scheduled Power Outage

The shutdown has been initiated to carry out essential maintenance and technical upgrades in select divisions of the city. Such planned electricity interruptions are necessary to ensure long-term efficiency, reduce unexpected breakdowns, and enhance overall power distribution quality. The maintenance activities are being closely monitored to restore supply within the announced timeframe.

Power Cut in Challakere Division

As per the official update, the Challakere division will experience a complete power shutdown during the maintenance window. Areas surrounding Sanikere, Somaguddu, Gopanahalli, and the Sanikere branch region will be directly impacted. Residents in these localities are advised to make alternative arrangements for essential electrical needs such as water pumps, internet connectivity, and charging electronic devices.

Malleswaram Division Affected Areas

In the Malleswaram division, particularly the C-6 sub-division, a large number of residential and commercial neighborhoods will face power disruption. The affected locations include Lottagollahalli, Munihanumayya Colony, RK Udyan, Sanjeevappa Colony, MLA Layout, Netaji Nagar, Pipeline Road, Mattikere, Mohan Kumar Nagar, KP Park, Akkiyappa Udyan, BK Nagar, LIC Colony, Pampa Nagar, Yeshwanthpur 1st Main Road, HMT Layout, LCR School Road, Gokul 1st Phase, Gurumurthy Reddy Colony, Brindavan Nagar, and nearby surrounding areas. Businesses operating in these zones are advised to adjust work schedules to avoid productivity loss.

Additional Localities Facing Electricity Disruption

Several other prominent areas in west and southwest Bengaluru will also be affected by the planned shutdown. These include Bapuji Nagar, Kavita Layout, Ranganath Colony, Batarayanapura Aiyanna Shetty Layout, Ganapathi Nagar, Pride Apartment, Deepanjali Nagar, Patel Puttaiah Industrial Area, BHEL area, Muttachari Industrial Area, Jyothi Nagar, Gangondanahalli, Ajith Sir Industrial Area, Vinayak Layout, Metro Layout, Nayandahalli, Batarayanapura Mysore Road, Shobha Tent Road, Guddadahalli Extension, Global Village Tech Park, RR Nagar, and surrounding regions. IT parks and industrial zones in these areas may also experience temporary operational disruptions.

Previous Maintenance-Related Power Shutdowns

A day earlier, on December 28, a similar shutdown was announced in areas connected to the 66/11 KV Byadarahalli and 66/11 KV Srigandhakal power stations. That outage lasted for approximately seven hours, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Over the past few weeks, multiple parts of Bengaluru have experienced planned outages due to ongoing maintenance activities carried out in coordination with the state transmission authorities.

What Residents Should Do During the Power Cut

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official updates, keep backup power options ready where possible, and avoid using heavy electrical appliances immediately after power restoration to prevent load issues. The authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to complete the maintenance work efficiently and restore electricity supply on time.
