Bangladesh Crisis: In the midst of Bangladesh’s political turmoil, Shashi Tharoor suggests that the center “can exercise our diplomatic influence.”

Bangladesh Crisis:  In the midst of political turmoil, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has asked the federal government to take the required actions to stop violence against Bangladesh’s minorities. Tharoor recommended that the center attempt to convince Dhaka to take “constructive steps” in order to keep the peace. He emphasized that New Delhi may utilize diplomacy to guarantee minority protection even if it cannot meddle in Bangladesh’s domestic affairs. His comments were made a few days after a mob in Mymensingh murdered a Hindu manufacturing worker on charges of blasphemy. Additionally, the Congress leader recommended that the center assist the forces eager to construct a “inclusive democracy” in the neighboring country.

Tharoor emphasized that India may use its diplomatic clout in Bangladesh, reminding them of New Delhi’s role in the country’s development and independence. “India is not allowed to meddle in a neighbor’s internal affairs.” However, as a nation that has made several contributions to the Bangladeshi people and nation, we can undoubtedly use our diplomatic clout in Dhaka to convince the (Yunus) administration to take positive action,” Tharoor was cited by the Indian Express.

He asked the government to back the inclusive forces while also praising the way the Modi administration handled the crisis after the overthrow of previous Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After giving this some serious thought, the Parliamentary Standing Committee (on External Affairs) produced a report a few days ago. We applauded the administration for taking a positive stance and urged it to assist those attempting to (establish) an inclusive democracy in Bangladesh,” Tharoor said.

The government of Bangladesh denounced the killing of the Hindu man earlier on December 19 and promised tough punishment for those responsible. “Such violence has no place in the new Bangladesh. The message declared that those responsible for this horrible act would not be spared. “The lynching of a Hindu guy in Mymensingh is something we strongly condemn. Such violence has no place in the new Bangladesh. “This horrible crime’s perpetrators will not be spared,” it said.
