Officials confirmed that the crackdown resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of sophisticated foreign-made weapons and ammunition, highlighting the scale and reach of the network.
Large Cache of Advanced Weapons Seized
During the operation, law enforcement agencies recovered 21 firearms, including a mix of automatic weapons and high-end pistols. Alongside the firearms, around 200 live cartridges were also confiscated. Authorities described the recovered arsenal as highly advanced, with several weapons typically associated with elite security or specialized combat units.
Among the seized items was a sub-machine gun manufactured in the Czech Republic, along with a diverse range of pistols sourced from different countries. Officials noted that such weapons are not commonly found in domestic criminal activity, indicating a well-established supply chain operating across borders.
International Origins of Seized Firearms
Investigators revealed that the recovered weapons originated from multiple countries, underscoring the global dimension of the smuggling network. The cache included PX-5.7 pistols, often used by special forces, as well as Stoeger pistols produced in Turkey. Chinese-made PX-3 pistols and Shadow CZ pistols from the Czech Republic were also part of the seizure.
Additionally, firearms manufactured by well-known international brands from Italy, Brazil, and Germany were recovered. The presence of such a wide variety of weapons suggests that the syndicate had access to multiple suppliers and channels, allowing it to procure arms from different regions with relative ease.
Well-Organised Cross-Border Network
Preliminary findings indicate that the arrested individuals were part of a structured and coordinated network engaged in smuggling and distributing illegal weapons within India. Police officials stated that the group maintained contact with handlers and suppliers based in neighbouring countries, facilitating the movement of arms across international borders.
The operation is believed to have relied on covert transportation routes and a network of intermediaries to avoid detection. These methods enabled the syndicate to move weapons discreetly before distributing them to contacts in various parts of the country.
