Amit Shah: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday underlined the relevance of India’s spiritual heritage in addressing modern global challenges, stating that Indian tradition and culture provide enduring solutions to problems faced by the world today. He was speaking at the Shatabdi Samaroh 2026, organised to commemorate the birth centenary of Param Vandaniya Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

Event Marks Spiritual and Cultural Milestones

The programme was organised by the All World Gayatri Pariwar and also marked the centenary of the Akhand Jyoti, a sacred flame that has been continuously burning for more than a hundred years. The event drew spiritual leaders, followers, and dignitaries from across the country, reflecting the deep cultural influence of the organisation and its ideals.

Amit Shah attended the ceremony along with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the visit, he offered prayers at Gayatri Teerth Shantikunj, the spiritual headquarters where the Akhand Jyoti is housed. The atmosphere of the gathering was marked by devotion, reflection, and a strong emphasis on cultural continuity.

Experience at Akhand Jyoti Sammelan

Sharing his personal experience, the Union Minister described a profound sense of spiritual energy at the Akhand Jyoti Sammelan. He said the place symbolised an unbroken flow of consciousness and inner strength, representing a rare convergence of faith, spirituality, and culture.

According to him, the revival and strengthening of these values were made possible through the lifelong work of Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, the founder of the All World Gayatri Pariwar. He credited Sharma Acharya with emphasising character building as the foundation of social and spiritual awakening, stating that his efforts were aimed at enlightening the human soul rather than merely promoting rituals.

Indian Tradition as a Global Answer

Amit Shah highlighted that those who understand Sanatan Dharma, Indian culture, and Indian history firmly believe that solutions to global crises are deeply rooted in India’s ancient traditions. He said Indian philosophy promotes balance, harmony, and universal welfare, values that are increasingly relevant in today’s conflict-driven world.

He stressed that Indian traditions do not focus only on individual salvation but also encourage collective responsibility and global harmony. This inclusive outlook, he said, is the reason Indian culture continues to inspire people beyond national boundaries.

Praise for Chinmay Pandya’s Leadership

The Union Minister also praised Chinmay Pandya, the grandson of Shriram Sharma Acharya, for taking a pledge towards nation-building. He described this commitment as significant for guiding the next generation of followers toward social reform and cultural service.

Shah said that leadership rooted in values and self-discipline is essential for sustaining spiritual movements over long periods. He expressed confidence that under Pandya’s guidance, the Gayatri Pariwar would continue to expand its contribution to society over the next hundred years.

Responsibility of Millions of Followers

Highlighting the massive reach of the organisation, Amit Shah noted that millions of people have been connected to spiritual practices such as Gayatri Mantra, Gayatri Puja, and Gayatri Sadhana through the efforts of Shriram Sharma Acharya. He urged these followers to move forward with renewed energy, discipline, and enthusiasm.

According to him, the true strength of such movements lies in collective participation and moral commitment. He called upon followers to actively contribute to social upliftment, ethical living, and national development while staying rooted in spiritual values.

Legacy of All World Gayatri Pariwar

The All World Gayatri Pariwar today has more than 100 million members and thousands of centres worldwide dedicated to social reform, moral education, and spiritual awareness. The organisation is widely regarded as a modern adaptation of ancient Vedic wisdom, promoting the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which views the entire world as one family.

Founded by Yug Rishi Vedmurti Taponishth Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, the movement gradually evolved into a mass initiative aimed at holistic transformation of society. The Gayatri Tapobhumi, first established in Mathura in 1953 after over two decades of dedicated Gayatri Sadhana by Sharma Acharya, remains a key symbol of this spiritual legacy.
